KickinTheTires.net joins Brandbilt Motorsports as sponsor of the No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro for the NASCAR’s Xfinity Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.

LEBANON, TENNESSEE, UNITED STATES, June 18, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Brandonbilt Motorsports and motorsports media outlet Kickin’ the Tires.net, which is celebrating its 20th year covering NASCAR, have agreed to an ongoing partnership that will also feature the media outlet on the hood of the No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Tennessee Lottery 250 this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.

Following Brandon Brown’s sponsor pitch video going viral this past week on social media, the team was inundated with calls for potential partnerships but one of the first to reach out was Kickin’ the Tires. It didn’t take long before both sides knew this would be a great relationship.

“This weekend, I’m proud to welcome both Jerry Jordan and Kickin’ The Tires as well as Brandon Davis Music to our team for Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250,” said driver Brandon Brown. “Brandon Davis is a rising country singer-songwriter that has had some real breakout success over the last year. It’s really cool to be able to represent him and his music on our No. 68 this weekend and it’s going to be even more special to host Brandon and his family at the track for the race on Saturday.

Kickin’ The Tires is a multi-platform media company that is primarily focused on covering our great sport of NASCAR. They’ve been in the industry for almost 20 years and have always done an outstanding job of promoting the drivers, teams and their stories.

“It is an honor for Kickin’ the Tires to partner with Brandonbilt Motorsports for NASCAR’s return to Nashville Superspeedway,” said Jordan., who founded KTT in 2001. “And following the buzz from Brandon’s amazing creativity last week, how could we not join forces with them to celebrate our 20th year covering NASCAR?”

Brown has used social media engagement to not only garner some laughs but to also entice and interest sponsors to the sides of his competitive Xfinity team in 2021 and beyond.

With no easy routes toward success, Brown, 27, has become one of the brightest underdog stories in the Xfinity Series. Through just 14 races in 2021, Brown has already surpassed his career highs in top-five (two) and top-10 finishes (seven).

“I’m excited to be racing at Nashville this weekend for the first time in my career,” Brown said. “I feel like our team has shown some great success at Dover, which is also a concrete racetrack, so hopefully we can transition that same type of performance into Nashville this weekend.”

Entering the weekend 13th in Xfinity points, Nashville begins the team’s push to enter the series playoff run in just a few months’ time. If achieved, it will be the second consecutive playoff advancement in a row.

This positive attitude, mixed with his mutual core values of hard work and devotion, makes this partnership with KTT a natural.
“The values embraced by Brandonbilt Motorsports, Brandon Brown and his father Jerry Brown, align with the values I hold true and what Kickin’ the Tires stands for,” said Jordan. “When I first started covering NASCAR in 2001, it was because my mom and late-sister were huge fans of the sport and they got me into it.

“Brandon and his dad built their organization from the ground up with their own blood, sweat and tears as I was able to do with Kickin’ the Tires. There is no way possible that Kickin’ the Tires would be where it is today without the help of my wife and family and the dedicated writers and photographers we have on our staff. I am grateful to each and every one of them.”

Olympian Jan Hudec Gives 100 Trillion $PANDA Tokens to TFA Worldwide Association

/EIN News/ — ZUG, Switzerland, June 18, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Recently, the creators of the PANDA Token project (www.thepandatoken.com) have given 100 Trillion $PANDA, 12.8% of the total supply, as a charitable gift to TFA Worldwide Association, an organisation dedicated to sharing the digital wealth with charities and participants in the football community.

The $PANDA token is a brand new coin created to provide sport fans worldwide their very own meme token like Shiba Inu or Dogecoin, but with real utility for minting and purchasing of NFTs. The PANDA token also has as a strong charitable community giveback theme inspired by Olympian Jan Hudec. $PANDA can be used for buying NFTs within the pandaHAUS branded sports app ecosystem, and the first NFTs are set to be minted and put up for sale in early July.

Jan was nicknamed “The Panda” and sought to find creative ways to bring funds back into the sports community. His mission is fulfilled with PANDA, which is available on Pancakeswap under the symbol PANDA.

Jan says, “I am thrilled that PANDA can give people something more meaningful and useful than other meme coins to support. I am particularly excited that the success of this PANDA initiative will bring resources to worthy causes in the world of sports and sports charities and causes like TFA Worldwide Association.”

Jerome Heelein, board member of TFA Worldwide Association, says “This gift of PANDA is highly appreciated, and we will make sure that we get this wonderful resource into the hands of worthy causes”.

TheFutbolApp (TFA) Worldwide Association: This Association is saddled with the responsibility of managing the activities of the TFA ecosystem. The Association is based in Zug, Switzerland and has notable initial board members such as Shareen Qureshi, market development director at Barclays Bank. Shareen has also served as a liaison to English Premier League clubs and owners. Another board member is Stefan Lindemann, who served as the CEO of LGT Fund Management for the past eight years. LGT is the largest family-owned private banking and asset management group in the world. The vast experiences of these board members in finance, sports and community will help TFA achieve its vision in the long run. They will help connect blockchain technology, social networking and sports into a single sharing economy centered on TheFutbolCoin (TFC) token. The main goal of the TFA Worldwide Association is to give the worldwide football community access to the digital wealth of the token economy. They also educate clubs and their fans on the use of digital assets.

Dlamini becomes first black South African to compete at Tour de France
Dlamini becomes first black South African to compete at Tour de France

Dlamini becomes first black South African to compete at Tour de France; Dlamini, Bennett and Campenaerts all make first Tour de France starts; Aru, Henao, Clarke and Gogl add significant experience; Walscheid looks to flat stages and time trials; The spirit of Ubuntu – I am because we are – on show to the world.

Team Qhubeka ASSOS continues to make history as we are thrilled to announce our eight-rider roster for the 2021 Tour de France which includes a debut for Nicholas Dlamini, who becomes the first black South African ever to compete at the showpiece event.

Nicholas Dlamini on Tour de France selection: https://bit.ly/3gBjAji

Team Qhubeka ASSOS, Africa’s UCI WorldTour team, will make its seventh appearance at the Tour de France having first competed in 2015 (MTN-Qhubeka). Over that period the team has won seven stages; and worn the yellow, green and polka dot jerseys respectively.

Dlamini’s selection is a landmark moment for the South African-registered team as he becomes the latest rider to progress from our development team and onto the UCI WorldTour, and subsequently earn his selection to compete at the world’s biggest cycling race.

The 25-year-old, who grew up in an informal settlement in Cape Town, first caught the eye as a runner before moving into cycling where his talents saw him move to the UCI’s World Cycling Centre Africa in Potchefstroom, South Africa. It is from here that he first earned a spot in our UCI Continental outfit – Team Qhubeka – based in Lucca, Italy.

In his second season with the continental team, Dlamini rode as a stagiaire on our WorldTour team and then turned professional in 2018. Since then he raced across the world, including twice competing at the Vuelta a Espana (2019 and 2020) and has worn the king of the mountains jersey at both the Tour Down Under and the Tour of Britain.

2020 saw his season heavily affected by an arm injury, as well as the broader impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the cycling calendar, but 2021 has seen Dlamini selected to represent Team South Africa at the Tokyo Olympic Games, and now being called up to our Tour de France squad.

Dlamini’s style of racing will likely see his talents deployed in the offensive strategy the team will look to pursue during the race, while also playing a key supporting role in the flatter stages.

Bennett (25) makes his Tour debut following on two previous Grand Tour starts at the Giro d’Italia, and having made his first start for our team at Etoile de Besseges in February. The Californian comes into the race having impressed with his aggressive racing and versatility in serving the team’s ambitions during the course of the race; and offers a perfect foil for the team’s strategic objectives.

Giro d’Italia stage-winner Victor Campenaerts also makes his Tour de France debut in 2021 and comes into the event in confident mood. The Belgian world hour record holder, who made a name for himself as a time triallist, has changed his approach in 2021 and scored a momentous victory in Gorizia a month ago.

Italian Grand Tour-winner Fabio Aru has steadily seen his form build during the course of 2021 and will bring an incredible amount of experience to our roster. After starting the year racing cyclo-cross, the Sardinian has racked up 33 races days, most recently completing the Criterium du Dauphine.

In 2017 he finished 5th overall as he won stage five and also wore the maillot jaune for a period. 2021 will mark his fourth start at the event.

Michael Gogl was the team’s standout rider at the 2020 Tour de France and his performances during the course of this year, punctuated by his sixth-place finish at Strade Bianche, sees him perform an integral role in our team. His position as a road captain, alongside Simon Clarke, is invaluable. This will be the 27-year-old’s fourth participation at the Tour de France, having first ridden in 2017.

Fellow road captain Simon Clarke starts the Tour de France for a sixth time, with three previous top-10 stage finishes. The 34-year-old rides his first Tour for Team Qhubeka ASSOS and starts his 15th Grand Tour in total. Clarke, whose father hails from Cape Town, will celebrate his birthday on the final stage in Paris, on Mandela Day.

Max Walscheid will ride his second Grand Tour of the year after an excellent performance at the Giro d’Italia. Two top-10 finishes in the two individual time trials in Italy saw the 1.99m German thrilled with the improvements he’s made in this discipline and with a number of opportunities on offer in the flatter stages he will be hopeful of causing an upset.

Our eight-rider line-up is completed with the inclusion of Colombia’s Sergio Henao. The hugely experienced 33-year-old makes his fourth appearance at the Tour with a best performance of 12th overall in 2016, and his ability to play both a supporting role as well as take on the race for himself provides the team with some exciting options.

The 2021 Tour de France gets underway in Brest on 26 June and finishes on Paris on 18 July. Stay tuned to the final week of build-up to the event with further exciting news set to come from the team.

FAN ANNOUNCEMENT

Throughout 2021 Team Qhubeka ASSOS has sought to do things in differently by asking our fans to announce our line-ups for the races. The response to this initiative has been incredible, and seen our supporters engage with the team in a completely unique way that’s further enriched their relationship with the team.

Our 2021 Tour de France team announcement is a special tribute to all of our fans and partners who together with us celebrate the true spirit of Ubuntu – I am because we are.

QUOTES

Douglas Ryder – Team Principal

This year is an incredibly special one for us – for so many reasons – and now at the Tour de France we again will have the opportunity to showcase our unique purpose-driven team to the world.

Selection for a Tour de France team is always very difficult, and what we’ve seen again this year is riders across our squad put their hand up for selection. Our final roster is one that I know will do our team, partners and supporters proud in the true spirit of Ubuntu.

Riding your first ever Tour is such a special moment and I couldn’t be more delighted for Nic, Sean and Victor. We have huge amounts of experience in Fabio, Michael, Simon and Sergio while Max – together with Victor – shone at the Giro and will be looking to carry that confidence into this race.

For Nic, what a moment though; his story is simply an incredible one and for him to have earned this opportunity shows that dreams really do come true, and for the team to have provided that opportunity makes me incredibly proud.

He’s always been an individual that has stepped up and taken the opportunities that he’s fought for; and he does so again as he lines up at the startline in Brest on the sport’s biggest stage in front of the world. This will culminate in an incredible moment for him, South Africa and especially for our team.

His selection speaks to everything about what we’ve created and built with this team through providing hope, an opportunity and then ultimately the platform to be on the biggest stage of all, the Tour de France.

I know that the spirit coursing through the squad in the way we’ve performed this year will again be on show for the world to see, and I can’t wait for racing to get underway.

Bicycles Change Lives

Nicholas Dlamini

Being selected to ride in my first Tour de France is an absolute dream come true for me. It’s always been an absolute childhood dream for me and now that I’m about to live it makes it feel surreal.

I think it speaks to what the team is about, the Ubuntu spirit, and how we change people’s lives because it is honestly a very special moment: to come from a small township and then to go to the Tour de France.

Considering where I come from it would simply have been impossible for me to have the opportunity to ride at the Tour de France if it wasn’t for Team Qhubeka ASSOS. The platform that they’ve provided me, and other riders from Africa, to compete at the highest level in cycling has been critical.

I really hope that this will serve as a reference of hope and inspiration to many young South Africans, and people around the world, who have been working really hard to reach their dreams, my hope is that they take from this that anything is possible.

I want to race the tour to inspire more kids on Qhubeka bikes to follow in my footsteps and to experience the world like I have, for more kids in communities to put their hands up for bikes to work hard like I did, to dream big. I am living my dream.

Fabio Aru

I am incredibly excited to get my Tour de France campaign underway with Team Qhubeka ASSOS. Throughout the season, I’ve been working towards the race with my focus on being in the best possible condition for the start.

It’s a race that I love, and in 2021 will be one that I will approach with my teammates in the true spirit of Ubuntu. We’ve seen the way that the team has raced this year, and particularly at the Giro d’Italia, and we look forward to continuing in the same way.

We’ll look to race aggressively throughout and target stage victories, which I look forward to playing my part in by racing in a way that continues to shine a spotlight on our purpose as we changes lives with bicycles and the Qhubeka Charity.

Simon Clarke

It’s a great honour to be selected once again for the event which is the pinnacle of our sport, this time with a new team with amazing drive and pride.

The team raced with a special dynamic at the Giro which really made everyone sit up and take notice, and we intend to continue this at the Tour de France. Can’t wait to get cracking.

Michael Gogl

Of course I am extremely happy and motivated to go to the Tour de France. It will be my fourth Tour and with a strong motivated squad, with riders for every terrain, we will continue what worked out really well in the last period; that is to race aggressively and try to hunt stages as one team.

On top of that, riding for Team Qhubeka ASSOS in the biggest yearly sporting event fills me with pride and will most certainly push me even more to put the Qhubeka Charity firmly into the spotlight.

Max Walscheid

I am so incredibly proud to line up again for my second Tour de France with Team Qhubeka ASSOS.

I think I’ve had a great year so far but chances to go for myself were rare but still I’m happy have attained some good results but more so to have been part of great team results and achievements.

Now I am extremely thrilled to represent our team in the sprints and go for results on the biggest stage possible. We have a very versatile team and I’d like to be a key part in achieving results in the flat stages.

Victor Campenaerts

This year’s Tour de France will be my first and after the Giro I’m really eager to do my second Grand Tour of the year as we had a blast. We achieved some big successes but also just had a really good time because we really are one team and we race in the spirit of Ubuntu – I am because we are. This makes it really nice to race, and especially to race a Grand Tour with this family.

Sean Bennett

This is an absolute dream come true and I can’t wait to get the race started. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the way that the team has raced in 2021 as it suits my approach on the bike perfectly. I think that together with the spirit in the group, and racing in that way, that we can continue to be successful.

Sergio Henao

It’s always exciting to be selected for the Tour de France, the most important race in the world. This is very special for me as a return to the Tour in new colours, new jersey and with a new team. We go into the race with high expectations after the good experiences the team has had during the course of the season – and most recently the Giro.

We have to fight for stages and of course maintain a good image of the team. Personally I’ve done some excellent, very hard, preparation at high altitude but have lacked a bit of racing rhythm situation but with confidence I’m sure that we’ll do everything for the team. I’m really looking forward to this month of summer coming up and I’m going to enjoy it a lot, working always as a collective, as a team.

Lars Michaelsen

With this team we go into the Tour de France without a specified GC contender and without any top-top-top sprinter but importantly with a group of riders who have a clear goal to take opportunities and play their part in the race.

How will that exactly unfold? Well it’s hard to tell, but if we divide the stages we have six sprint stages, 5-10 possibilities of breakaways, two individual time trials and four hilltop finishes where we’ll probably see the big GC riders going for it.

You can divide it in many ways but I choose to be optimistic in that we have these of somewhere between 5-10 stages where we will try to be represented in breakaways. In the sprints we will support Max Walscheid as well as we can, and look to take any and all opportunities on offer.

Our Ubuntu spririt – I am because we are – will be what carries us into this race and we can’t wait to get going.

Acid and Bribery

A mystery story surrounding the Sport of Kings

COOKSTOWN, NEW JERSEY, USA, June 18, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Horse racing is often seen as a noble, gentleman’s sport where people participate in very honorable competition. However, as with most things, there is more to horse racing than meets the eye, and these things, often hidden to the public, can be surprising if brought to the light of day. This is the story of writer Jeanne Ann Off’s book “Acid and Bribery,” which pulls back the curtain on the dirty politics, backdoor dealing, and intrigue that can surround this noblest of sports. An experienced writer from Western Colorado, Jeanne Ann would be quite familiar with horses and the industry surrounding them, having grown up around cattle ranches, just like her husband. She is the mentee of writers Patricia Calvert and Teri Martini but got her start in writing after attending a writing course in the Institute of Children’s Literature. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and a Bible College degree from Faith Bible Institute.

The story centers around Kelsey Kelley, who sets off on an investigation to uncover the truth when Tomar El Oro, a stallion who many believe would win the race, suddenly lost and lost miserably at that. Kelsey’s investigation was spurred on by a conversation she overheard that would suggest bribery. But as her efforts are gaining steam, the arrival of her long-lost and estranged father throws a wrench in her story.

This story is one that deserves to be on the shelves of fans of horse racing and mystery stories. Buy yours today!

Alicia Doyle, Author of the 3-Time Award-Winning Book, Fighting Chance, Featured During Live@5's Writers Roundtable
Alicia Doyle, Author of the 3-Time Award-Winning Book, Fighting Chance, Featured During Live@5’s Writers Roundtable

Alicia Doyle

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, June 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Alicia Doyle, author of the three-time award-winning book, Fighting Chance, will discuss her non-fiction memoir during Live@5’s Writers Roundtable from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23. This event is free.

“Alicia Doyle is one of the best story tellers we know,” said John Lockhart, founder of Live@5’s Writers Roundtable. “Her ability to explore various subjects, to dive deep into a story, to listen to her sources, and write their stories is amazing. Now, with her own book, Alicia reveals her authentic self and shares her most personal stories. We can’t wait to hear more on our Live@5 show featuring Alicia Doyle and leading authors on Wednesday, June 23 at 5 PM PDT.”

To register for this free event, visit https://liveat5writersroundtable.eventbrite.com.

Since Fighting Chance was published in February of 2020 – just one month before the global pandemic hit – it has won three literary awards: First Place in Creative Nonfiction and Memoir in the 2020 North Street Book Prize Winning Writers Competition; 2020 WBAN “Cool Story of the Year”; and 2021 Best Autobiographical Book.

In April of 2020, Slavica Bogdanov, a 20-time-awarded Canadian screenwriter and owner of Empowering Entertainment, partnered with Doyle to bring her true story to the Silver Screen.

Bogdanov chose Doyle’s story because “I loved the courage and tenacity, and I was touched by the heart of a fighter who fights for her right to stand up for herself and win at the game of life.”

With Covid, “the movie industry came to a halt, and the financiers I was speaking with stopped any film investment,” said Bogdanov, adding that so far, none of her financiers are interested in getting back into funding films. Nevertheless, she remains hopeful. “I am waiting until more movies reopen and investors warm back up to hopefully get the film finally funded.”

Doyle, a journalist for more than three decades, discovered boxing at age 28 in the late 1990s when she went on assignment at a boxing gym for at-risk youth. For two years, Doyle simultaneously worked as a newspaper reporter while training and competing as a boxer, making her one of only a few hundred women in America who infiltrated this male-dominated sport. During her boxing career, she won two Golden Gloves championship titles and earned three wins by knockout – and her pro debut at age 30 in the year 2000 was named The California Female Fight of the Year.

“Empowering, female-driven stories are more and more in demand as women and men seek more movies with women in starring roles,” Bogdanov noted. “Not many films have been made about female boxers and that gives us an originality often sought by spectators.”

Bogdanov believes this film will be successful “because of the poignant story, the transformational arc as well as the motivation it provides for us to live a better life,” she added. “Women and men will love to see Alicia’s character win her inner battles in order to win her fight in the ring.”

Connor Crenshaw Discusses Benefits of Kids Playing Tennis

Connor Crenshaw

Connor Crenshaw

Athlete Connor Crenshaw recently discussed the benefits of the sport of tennis for kids.

Tennis is unique, because it can be an individual and a team sport”
— Connor Crenshaw

BATON ROUGE, , LOUISIANA, USA, June 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — It’s no secret that sports can be beneficial to children of all ages. They keep them physically active, form lifelong friendships, and provide developmental benefits. Connor Crenshaw has been volunteering as a tennis coach for kids for years, and he recently explained why the sport of tennis is an excellent option for your young athletes.”Tennis is unique, because it can be an individual and a team sport,” Connor Crenshaw said. “This allows the child to benefit from both forms of competition and recreational play.”

Crenshaw explained that tennis can be played as singles or doubles. It can also be played as part of a larger school or community team. Kids learn to accept wins and losses as an individual as well as through a group setting.

Crenshaw added that tennis is an extremely low contact sport. Many contact sports, like football and rugby, have been criticized for the potential for long-term injuries. Tennis does have accidents, such as colliding with your doubles partner or being hit with a tennis ball, but these are substantially less common than in contact sports.

“Tennis is a sport in which a coach is always nearby and can provide one-on-one advice and supervision,” Connor Crenshaw said. “This is ideal for safety and for developing proper technique and form.”

Crenshaw explained that tennis offers a lot more one-on-one practice with the coach or coaches than other sports. This allows for quicker development and quicker advancement.

Tennis has also been linked to mental and physical development. Connor Crenshaw cited a study by the University of Illinois that showed tennis could facilitate new connections among nerves in the brain. This can result in continued development of hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and more.
“Tennis is a sport that requires a high level of fitness,” Connor Crenshaw added. “This level of activity can help reduce the chance of childhood obesity and strengthen your child’s cardiovascular system. Tennis players also inevitably develop muscle strength throughout all areas of the body.”

Crenshaw added that playing sports like tennis can benefit the immune system, which is especially important as society continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. The physical conditioning developed while playing tennis can increase your child’s resistance to disease and boost the immune system.

“Most importantly, tennis a sport that’s fun for kids,” Connor Crenshaw concluded. “In addition to the traditional form of the game, coaches create countless games to keep kids engaged while advancing their skills.”

Crenshaw serves as a volunteer tennis coach for kids at Gardere Community Christian School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is also an active contributor to the Strong Kids for Tennis organization.

Governor's Traffic Safety Committee Announces Chance to Win Virtual Meet-and-Greet With NASCAR driver Ross Chastain
Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Announces Chance to Win Virtual Meet-and-Greet With NASCAR driver Ross Chastain

GTSC News Banner

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, June 17, 2021

GOVERNOR’S TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES CHANCE TO WIN VIRTUAL MEET-AND-GREET WITH NASCAR DRIVER ROSS CHASTAIN

Contest Runs Through August 15

Chastain to Also Meet with Fans August 5 and 6 Before Racing at Watkins Glen International

Chastain’s No. 45 Niece Motorsports Race Truck to Promote GTSC’s ‘Protect Your Melon’ Seat Belt Safety Campaign

The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) is giving New Yorkers a chance to win a virtual meet-and-greet with NASCAR driver Ross Chastain—a long-time seat belt advocate and partner of GTSC. Cutouts featuring Chastain’s image and a contest QR code are now located in 100 Tops Stores in the Central New York, Finger Lakes, Mid-Hudson, Mohawk Valley, North Country, Southern Tier and Western New York regions. Fans who scan the code will be entered to win a personal, one-on-one interview with Ross. The contest runs through 5 p.m. on August 15. Two winners will be selected at that time, and separate Zoom sessions with Chastain will be conducted on August 18.

“Ross Chastain is not only a fantastic driver, he is a wonderful advocate for driver safety and the importance of seat belts,” said Mark J.F. Schroeder, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and GTSC Chair. “Ross is also someone who young people admire and look up to, so we are proud to be able to give New Yorkers this chance to sit down and get to know Ross and why he is so passionate about this important safety topic. It is a simple fact—seat belts save lives.”

“I take a lot of pride in representing the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and promoting seat belt usage in New York,” Ross said. “From growing up on a farm to now racing at 200 mph, safety is key, and sometimes people need a simple reminder to buckle up. I am looking forward to visiting the Watkins Glen area before the race to remind people to buckle up and promoting the “Protect Your Melon” message with Niece Motorsports.”

Niece Motorsports GM, Cody Efaw said, “We always look forward to having Ross behind the wheel of our Niece Motorsports trucks, and Watkins Glen will be no different. Partnering with the GTSC to promote seat belt usage is a great way for us to positively impact the community around the ‘Protect Your Melon’ messaging.”

About the Contest

When customers scan the QR code, they will be connected to an online form to enter the contest. Each entry will be assigned a number, and two winners will be randomly selected at the close of business on August 15. Winners will be notified via email or phone based on the information provided on their entry form. The first 1,000 entries will receive a Ross Chastain-autographed Hero Card.

Meeting Fans and Racing at Watkins Glens International

An eighth-generation watermelon farmer, Ross will sport the Protect Your Melon logo on his uniform and No. 45 Niece Motorsports race track while competing during this year’s Go Bowling at the Glen race weekend at Watkins Glen International from August 6th through 8th. Prior to racing, he will bring his race truck and meet with fans near the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park on the morning of August 5. Later that afternoon, Chastain will be at the Watkins Glen Village square to sign autographs. The rain location for Chastain’s Village Square appearance is the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce building.

He will also make an appearance at the Department of Motor Vehicles booth on Friday morning, August 6 to meet with fans and sign autographs. Times for the appearances are to be determined.

Earlier this year, the NASCAR driver spoke to students at Fort Edward and Lake George schools about the importance of wearing seat belts. He engaged young people in the GTSC’s Battle of the Belts competition, where competitors quickly move from seat to seat in a vehicle to see how fast they can buckle up. The activity is a fun way to demonstrate that it only takes a second or two to buckle a seat belt.

Protecting New Yorkers

New York was the first state in the nation to pass a seat belt law, and last year, the seat belt law was strengthened to require everyone in passenger vehicles, regardless of where they sit, to wear a seat belt or be properly restrained in a child safety seat.

Most New Yorkers do a great job wearing their seat belts and New York’s seat belt compliance rate consistently tops the national average. In the most recent survey, 94 percent of front seat drivers and passengers in the state were wearing their seat belts. But that means there are still hundreds of thousands of drivers who do not do it consistently. GTSC Protect Your Melon and Buckle Up New York Campaigns aim to educate New Yorkers about the significant role seatbelts have in preventing injuries and deaths in crashes.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if you buckle up in the front seat of a passenger car, you can reduce your risk of fatal injury by 45 percent. People who aren’t wearing seat belts are also 5 times more likely to suffer a traumatic brain injury.

For more information about traffic safety in New York State, visit the GTSC website at https://trafficsafety.ny.gov/, or follow the GTSC on Facebook and Twitter.

California Roars Back: Governor Newsom Launches New Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-Being with Co-Chairs First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and 10-Time Pro Bowler Ronnie Lott

Governor announces new advisory council while visiting Central Valley health club now open at full capacity

BAKERSFIELD – With California’s economy fully reopened and most COVID-19 restrictions lifted at gyms and fitness centers, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-Being, a new advisory council tasked with exploring healthy strategies to ensure Californians can thrive. Placing a special emphasis on child physical and mental health, the Advisory Council will be led and convened by First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, whose California for ALL Kids initiatives support children’s physical, mental and social-emotional well-being, and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Ronnie Lott.

“As California reopens, we must address the impacts this pandemic has had on physical fitness and mental health,” said Governor Newsom. “Today, with California’s First Partner and football legend Ronnie Lott, we are launching an Advisory Council that will focus on fitness and well-being, two issues that need a long-term commitment and strategy to ensure our residents, especially our youth, get the physical exercise and self-care they need to thrive.”

The Governor was joined at an In-Shape Health Clubs location in Bakersfield today by California’s First Partner, who was a Division 1 athlete as an undergraduate student at Stanford University, as well as a member of the women’s junior national soccer team.

“Through the Governor’s Advisory Council, we will help ensure that Californians of all ages – but especially children and youth – are healthy in mind and body, and able to flourish in all aspects of their lives,” said the First Partner. “After all, a healthy California starts with healthy kids and families.”

“As a professional athlete, I always gave my best on and off the field,” said Ronnie Lott, who helped secure four Super Bowl victories for the San Francisco 49ers. “By incorporating fitness and mental well-being into the lives of our youth, we will be giving them some of the skills and support that helped me during my career as a professional athlete.”

The Advisory Council will include representatives from health and wellness organizations, youth sports programs, education, the entertainment and fitness industry, and others from around the state. Included among the Council’s activities are:

  • Advising on the development of physical activity and wellness goals for Californians of all ages.
  • Advising on methods to increase awareness among all age groups, especially among children and youth, about how physical activity, sport, nutrition and mental wellness contribute to healthy and productive lives.
  • Encouraging inter-generational physical fitness activities including the use of physical activity and sport to strengthen families.
  • Facilitating collaboration among federal, state and local agencies, education, business and industry, the private sector, and others in the promotion of physical activity and mental wellness.

“On behalf of the California Fitness Alliance, we are thrilled to collaborate with Governor Newsom and the new fitness council to make California the healthiest state in the nation. Together, we will continue our mission to provide equitable access to fitness for all Californians while educating them on the mental and physical benefits of exercise and motivating them to get moving,” said Francesca Schuler, Co-Founder of the California Fitness Alliance and CEO of In-Shape Health Clubs.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, lifetime attitudes related to physical activity, sports, nutrition and wellness are formed early on in life, and establishing healthy dietary and physical habits during childhood is critical to preventing chronic diseases in adulthood. Activities that promote physical health support children’s mental health, their social and emotional learning, as well as their academic and life success. Specifically, engaging in regular physical activity reduces the risk of developing depression in children and adults and can improve many of the symptoms experienced by people with depression.

The Advisory Council will be comprised of up to 15 members, who will be named at a later date.

KETCHIKAN, ALASKA, UNITED STATES, June 16, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The 2021 sportfishing season at Waterfall Resort Alaska kicks off June 17. Its traditional, season-long King of Kings Salmon-Tournament opens with the first arriving guests. It’s one of the largest tournaments in Alaska for ocean sport fishing.

King of the Day (KOD) winners are announced each night at dinner for the tournament-registered guest who lands the largest king salmon of the day. In addition to onsite and social media recognition and a Waterfall Resort Alaska cap, every daily winner is entered into the season-end’s drawing for $10,000 or a Ford F-150 truck. Plus, the season’s biggest king salmon wins $10,000. First-time Guest and Youth (under 18) win return trips for season’s largest king salmon in that category. If you’re a golf fan, there’s a chance to win the Great Alaska Tee Off, July 12-16. It’s a 165-yard drive across the saltwater lagoon to win prizes from the General Store and Lagoon Saloon.

Next to the tee area, the Lagoon Saloon, with its great drinks and other entertainment, is a great place to celebrate winning the longest drive, the biggest king salmon or to simply just share the best “big fish” story.

“Some friendly competition adds that extra reward to the already memorable and jaw-dropping adventure that Alaska provides everyone,” Steve Cockrell, General Manager, shares. “Our combined competitions give away more than any other resort in Southeast Alaska. Plus, some boats enjoy their own private contests among the boat mates, between boats or within a family.”

A 90-minute flight from Seattle, Waterfall Resort guests are greeted at the Ketchikan airport and taken to the resort by float plane. Anglers of all skill levels embark on expertly guided sport-fishing excursions to land king salmon, silver salmon, halibut, lingcod, and more. Southeast Alaska’s breath-taking landscape is filled with awe-inspiring wildlife including humpback whales, orcas, bald eagles, otters, puffins, and more. As evening approaches, guests share fish tales at the Lagoon Saloon then feast on hearty Alaskan fare and fresh seafood in the Dining Room.

The partnership follows the AFFL’s recent slate of announcements, including its agreement with CBS Sports to broadcast games this summer, the launch of the league’s women’s division, and a commitment to pay equity as both the men’s and women’s champion will each earn a grand prize of $200,000 USD.

The AFFL offers the highest level of competitive flag football and has attracted some of the NFL’s biggest names in years past, including Michael Vick, Chad Ochocinco, Terrell Owens, Vince Young and Danny Wuerffel. AFFL odds will be a great addition to our already vast offerings.”

“Partnering with LSports is an important step in broadening the AFFL’s awareness and bolstering our relevance in the mainstream,” said Lewis. “As sports betting continues to growhere in the U.S. this will connect the AFFL to more fans, bringingthem closer to our game and the rising popularity of flag football.”

Stephen Crystal, Founder of SCCG Management, said of the announcement, “Bringing organizations such as the AFFL into partnership with LSports, is an essential part of our overall effort to open the US gaming market for LSports products and services. In-depth storytelling will be at the forefront of the approach with a sevens-specific “Open Side” interview series, featuring the likes of rugby sevens superstars Carlin Isles, Dan Norton and Celia Quansah.

The ever-popular Ultimate Rugby Challenge Series will also take on a sevens flavour with a number of skills-based challenges pushing teams right to their limits. Newer fans to the sport will be able to learn the ins and outs of sevens with our “Freshman Fan” series on World Rugby’s Tik Tok channel.

To ensure the teams are as best prepared as possible for the Olympic Games, and thanks to support received from the International Olympic Committee, World Rugby is investing US$4 million into Olympic qualified unions’ sevens programmes and towards the costs of hosting a number of high-performance preparation events around the globe.

Australia and Fiji are reigning women’s and men’s Olympic champions respectively following their victories in Rio, and the competition for medals has never been closer with the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series showcasing in recent years that a wide number of teams are capable of reaching the medal podium, including the hosts Japan whose men’s team finished fourth at the Rio 2016 Games and were champions of the inaugural HSBC World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series in 2020 before the onset of the pandemic.

The inclusion of rugby sevens for the first time at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 had a profound effect on the sport, attracting an estimated 30 million new fans globally and rugby sevens is expected to be one of the most highly anticipated events of the Tokyo Games, following the outstanding success of Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, which captured the nation’s imagination with record-breaking broadcast audiences and huge numbers of new rugby fans across Japan and Asia.

Bahamian Heritage celebration hits home run at Marlins game
We plan to continue to use our presence at these events to highlight our cultural offerings that truly make The Bahamas a close paradise.”
— Linda Mackey, Consul General, Bahamas Consulate

NASSAU, BAHAMAS, June 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Like the Miami Marlins’ 4-2 win against the Atlanta Braves on June 12, The Islands of The Bahamas also emerged victorious as thousands of fans witnessed the special game, which prominently featured the culture of The Bahamas in a special Bahamas-themed night.

The celebration featured the pulsating and rhythmic music of The Bahamas and a pregame Junkanoo rush out performance showcasing the Bahamas Junkanoo Revue, including legends Langston Longley and Clinton Neilly. Junkanoo leaders from Nassau, Quinton “Barabbas” Woodside and Pluckers Chipman, also participated.

The highlight of the game honored Major League Miami Marlins Baseball player, 23-year-old shortstop Jasrado “Jazz” Chisolm Jr., a native of Nassau, Bahamas. The Heritage Celebration was a collaborative initiative by the Miami Marlins, the Bahamas Consulate General (Miami), the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation (BMOTA), the Bahamas Ministry of Youth Sport & Culture, Bahamasair, the National Sports Authority (NSA) of The Bahamas and the Bahamas Baseball Association (BBA). Bahamasair created special round-trip Heritage packages for the game for persons traveling to Florida from Nassau or Freeport. It is estimated that about 2,000 Bahamian fans traveled to Miami for the occasion.

“The Bahamas’ close proximity to South Florida made it easy for Bahamians to travel and support Bahamian Heritage Celebration and honor Jazz Chisolm. We plan to continue to use our presence at these events to highlight our cultural offerings that truly make The Bahamas a close paradise,” said Ms. Linda Mackey, Consul General, Bahamas Consulate.

Chisholm was presented with gifts from The Bahamas including a portrait painting by world renowned Bahamian celebrity artist Jamaal Rolle. Among those presenting the gifts were the Hon. Iram Lewis, the Bahamas Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture; Mr. Reginald Saunders, Permanent Secretary, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation and Ms. Linda Mackey, Consul General, Bahamas Consulate (Miami).

Bahamas Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture the Hon. Iram Lewis threw out the first Marlins’ pitch of the game, and Julien Believe sang the Bahamas National Anthem to the 8,500 fans in the stadium at LoanDepot Park.

CloudForecast raises 0K to cut wasted AWS costs
CloudForecast raises $180K to cut wasted AWS costs

CloudForecast joins TinySeed accelerator to help companies identify AWS cost anomalies and pricey mistakes.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, USA, June 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — CloudForecast, a software company that helps businesses eliminate wasted costs in Amazon Web Services, announced today it raised $180,000 in seed funding from the TinySeed accelerator program. The funding and TinySeed’s collaborative network will boost CloudForecast’s mission to help engineering leaders take control of their monthly budget and create a culture of cost responsibility within their organization.

“We’ve been a product-led company from the beginning and being part of TinySeed will help us continue to push features for our customers faster as we’re looking to add to product and engineering teams,” said Tony Chan, co-founder of CloudForecast. “Managing AWS cost was a problem we faced at all our previous jobs. We felt there wasn’t a tool in the market that addressed the problem in a non-complicated way that engineers would actually use.”

Think of CloudForecast as an extra set of eyes for engineering teams. Through a simple set of tools and integrations, CloudForecast sends daily emails and Slack reports to engineering teams, empowering them to quickly react to cost anomalies and mistakes that can rack up extra expenses for weeks.

In less than 30 seconds, engineers can identify and understand the precise reasons for cost increases within companies’ work environments without investigative work. CloudForecast’s forecast alerts help engineers quickly identify areas of cost increases by sub-accounts, resources, products, and tags.

“A service that fixes pains for other businesses is likely to turn into a great business itself,” said Rob Walling, TinySeed co-founder and General Partner. “That’s what CloudForecast has accomplished, solving a distinct pain that every AWS customer inevitably encounters.”

AWS is the largest public cloud provider, however, its pricing model is incredibly complex. AWS has more than 200 products, and each of these services have different pricing structures that can grow to be extremely costly. Some studies indicate about 35 percent of public cloud costs go wasted every year thanks to mistakes, lack of visibility, and infrequent monitoring.

For small- to mid-sized companies with engineers focused on developing their products, lingering cost irregularities can amount to huge expenses. CloudForecast’s client Coffee Meets Bagel saved thousands of dollars per day by eliminating an old data model and detecting zombie on-demand server instances.

“CloudForecast has probably paid for itself 10 times over,” said Stephen Brandon, manager of engineering and infrastructure for Coffee Meets Bagels. “I can’t put a number on it, but I know CloudForecast saved us at a minimum of tens of thousands of dollars over the course of our engagement.”

Outside the world of technology, CloudForecast’s cofounders’ athletic backgrounds have cultivated a competitive, team-focused ethos that helps guide their company. Hailing from France, Lagier is an accomplished fencer, handballer, and triathlete. Chan founded Chicago United, Chicago’s first Chinese 9-man volleyball team that competes in a fast-paced sport played throughout major Chinatowns and Chinese communities in North America.

About CloudForecast: Founded by Tony Chan and François Lagier, CloudForecast eliminates wasted costs in AWS without significant engineering resources. Through easy-to-understand daily email and Slack reports, engineering teams can quickly react to cost anomalies and mistakes that can often sit for weeks.

About TinySeed: TinySeed is an early-stage investment fund and remote accelerator program that has invested in 41 fast-growing, B2B SaaS companies. Founded in 2018, TinySeed believes that investing broadly into the earliest stages of the Independent SaaS market — specifically B2B SaaS companies that are not necessarily reliant on traditional venture capital — can provide venture returns with less than venture risk.

E. & J. Gallo Winery establishing a new East Coast facility in Chester County
E. & J. Gallo Winery establishing a new East Coast facility in Chester County

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster and the S.C. Department of Commerce today announced that E. & J. Gallo Winery (Gallo), a global wine and spirits company, will build a new state-of-the-art production facility and distribution center in Chester County to support future business growth and its long-term innovation plans. The $423 million investment will create 496 new jobs over the next eight years.

“Gallo’s investment will transform Chester County and contribute greatly to South Carolina’s economic prosperity. Creating a business environment in which world-class brands can grow and thrive is critical to South Carolina’s long-term economic success, especially in our rural communities,” said Governor Henry McMaster. “We are glad for their partnership and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”

Providing bottling and canning capacity as well as warehousing and distribution for the company’s growing portfolio of wine and spirit brands, the new South Carolina facility will allow Gallo to better meet customer demand on the East Coast, while reducing its overall carbon footprint. Given Chester County’s proximity to the Port of Charleston, this new location will also serve as a hub for Gallo’s import and export business.

“We could not be more appreciative of the collaboration and support shown by the state of South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, and those in Chester County along with all of the public and private entities who have embraced this project throughout the planning process and have welcomed us to the community,” said Gallo CEO, Ernest J. Gallo.

Construction on the new facility is set to begin almost immediately, with the first phase of the project on track to be completed in October of 2022. Gallo is working closely with readySC to prepare for hiring and various workforce training needs. Individuals interested in joining the Gallo team should visit  www.gallocareers.com/southcarolina for more information.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. A $16 million Rural Infrastructure Fund grant was also awarded to Chester County to assist with costs of the project.

Last month, the S.C. Department of Commerce went before the Joint Bond Review Committee and the State Fiscal Accountability Authority and received authorization for $8 million in bonds to offset costs of off-site mitigation under the Economic Development Bond Act.

QUOTES

“Cheers to E. & J. Gallo Winery on today’s big announcement that the company is establishing operations in South Carolina. We often say economic development is a team sport in S.C., and this project demonstrates the true collaboration on the local and state levels and beyond. Gallo’s $423 million investment and the 496 new jobs in Chester County will transform the region. We take pride in our state’s business-friendly environment, and we welcome Gallo to our roster of world-class companies within our borders.” -Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt

“We are delighted that E. & J. Gallo selected Chester County as the home for their new East Coast operation. This is a project of regional significance, and Gallo selected us after an extensive search by J.M. Mullis Inc. They determined that our strong manufacturing base and proximity to talent were the key determining factors. Chester County is in a great strategic location along the I-77 corridor between two metros: Charlotte and Columbia. We are honored to have this company locate in Chester County.” -Chester County Council Chair Dr. Wylie Frederick

“E. & J. Gallo Winery is a first-rate, world-class, family-owned company. The city of Lancaster is thrilled to partner with E. & J. Gallo Winery and our across-the-river neighbors to bring good jobs, fine wines and spirits and economic vitality to our region.” -City of Lancaster Mayor Alston DeVenny

“The town of Fort Lawn is very excited that E. & J. Gallo Winery has chosen our area for this expansion of their operations. We are looking forward to working with them as they continue to grow and develop this distribution network. Gallo’s rich family history and sense of community are just what we need here in Fort Lawn and Chester County. E. & J. Gallo Winery has shown that they are a great neighbor and supporter of their community, and they are making a substantial investment and commitment that will benefit Fort Lawn and the surrounding region. We are confident this will help attract other companies to join in what is sure to be great things for the Fort Lawn community.” -Town of Fort Lawn Mayor Carlton Martin

“South Carolina Ports is thrilled to be an integral part of E. & J. Gallo Winery’s global supply chain. This family-owned, California-based company has seen sustainable growth with both wine and spirits. Gallo’s $423 million investment to open a wine bottling and distribution plant in Chester County relies on the ability to import through the Port of Charleston. SC Ports’ efficient operations and reliable service meet the needs of this global wine industry leader.” -SC Ports President and CEO Jim Newsome

“The proposition of the I-77 region as an ideal location for corporate investment is truly validated when E. & J. Gallo, the nation’s largest winemaker, selects it for their East Coast operations hub. Distribution will be a priority component of this expansion and fortunately the I-77 region is within a single day’s truck drive of 42% of the U.S. market, including five of the 10 fastest-growing U.S. metro areas. This location, coupled with the region’s tremendous transportation infrastructure and South Carolina’s pro-business climate, creates a truly compelling opportunity for a company’s sustainable growth.” -I-77 Alliance Interim President and CEO Christopher Finn

“The Lancaster & Chester Railroad (L&C) is thrilled to partner with E. & J. Gallo Winery, supporting the continued growth of their impressive wine and spirits business. Knowing the selection criteria for this project required access to both Class I rail networks and excellent daily service, we were pleased to help them locate a great site. Celebrating its 125-year anniversary, L&C is honored that E. & J. Gallo Winery has chosen Chester County for this generational investment. As part of the Gulf & Ohio Railways family of short lines, L&C welcomes E. & J. Gallo Winery to one of the best economic development regions on the East Coast.” -Gulf & Ohio Railways Chief Business Development Officer Matt Gedney

“Duke Energy is happy to have played a pivotal role in helping E. & J. Gallo Winery understand everything Chester County and South Carolina have to offer. For more than a century, Duke Energy has powered the state and its economy through significant business recruitment and retention efforts, and we look forward to serving our new neighbors in Fort Lawn for many years to come.” -Duke Energy South Carolina President Mike Callahan

Shelby Houlihan: American center distance runner blames burrito for optimistic check
Shelby Houlihan is the US record holder in the 1500m and 5,000m

American middle distance runner Shelby Houlihan says she has been banned from athletics for four years after testing positive for a prohibited substance – which she blamed on a burrito.

The 28-year-old says she was told in January the anabolic steroid nandrolone had been found in a doping sample.

Olympian Houlihan said it may have come from eating a pork burrito, which she said could lead to a false positive for nandrolone, the night before her test.

She has denied ever doping.

She says she was handed the four-year ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) on Friday.

“I feel completely devastated, lost, broken, angry, confused and betrayed by the very sport that I’ve loved and poured myself into,” Houlihan said in a statement on social mediaexternal-link.

“I want to be very clear. I have never taken any performance enhancing substances.”

Houlihan, the US record holder in the 1500m and 5,000m, said she had “never even…
