“Plank” against the COVID blues and start fit into summer with the new Plankpads “Made in Germany”.

MUNICH, GERMANY, June 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Corona virus still has Europe firmly in its grip, and the end of the lockdown is not yet in sight. In some affected regions, quarantine measures have forced people to stay indoors for months. This means that going to the gym is just as impossible as other sporting activities. To playfully fight the COVID blues, really work out and at the same time steel your body for spring, all you need is the smart wobble board from Plankpad. The Plank (forearm support) is one of the most effective full-body exercises. In addition to the abdominal muscles, the forearm plank trains the back, buttocks, shoulders and arms. Regular planking ensures a strong torso – the basis for all conceivable movements and thus the foundation for sports activities or stresses in everyday life. The Plankpad is the world’s first app-supported total body trainer that combines workouts with games. The playful element is Plankpad’s secret weapon against the biggest enemy of all exercisers: overcoming your inner badass and completing workouts regularly. Instead of just fighting the clock, the app (available for iOS and Android) motivates intense workouts through varied games. Simply place your smartphone or tablet on the board, lean on it in the plank position, and control the games through your movements. The games challenge your playful ambition and distract you from the strenuous workout. You focus on the game and keep up the forearm support quite incidentally – and significantly longer. The app can also be streamed to any smart TV, turning the workout in the living room into an event for the whole family.

Sustainable Plankpad STUDIO Edition “100% Made in Germany“

With the Plankpad STUDIO Edition, the first wobble board “100% Made in Germany” comes onto the market. The premium birch and beech laminated wood as the basic material for the Plankpad is certified according to the strict guidelines of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), which defines criteria and principles for responsible forestry. Likewise, all other materials are “Made in Germany” and suppliers are located in geographical proximity. This also applies to the anti-bacterial floor mat and the packaging, which is geared towards sustainability and environmental protection. All suppliers have been selected according to the strictest criteria in order to meet the standards for schools and clubs. The sustainable Plankpad STUDIO Edition also meets the OEKOTEX Standard 100.

Plankpad by Erzi for kids – variety for homeschooling
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends one hour of exercise per day for children. The WHO doesn’t even call for sports; it’s already happy with simple activities such as walking, climbing stairs or riding a bike. Smartphones, tablets, television and computer games are considered one of the causes of sluggishness among children, according to experts – joined by pandemic hours of homeschooling in front of a screen. The new Plankpad by Erzi is specially designed for children and is manufactured in Germany in cooperation with Erzi, the manufacturing specialist for wooden children’s toys. It attracts children to the Plankpad via the games and playfully motivates them to move with their own body weight. Plankpad by Erzi also meets the highest requirements for schools and kindergartens.

The playful way to a six pack
Planking is one of the most effective exercises ever, but it’s also one of the most boring. To make planking more interesting and fun for everyone, André Reinegger, founder of Plankpad, developed the interactive balance board. The Plankpad creates an exciting and comfortable combination of fun and sport to stay in shape while playing. It is versatile and fun for all ages, genders, beginners and professional athletes. The dynamic Plank workouts have also made it the focus of trainers, orthopedists and professional athletes. In addition to toned abs and increased stability, the exercises improve posture and can prevent back pain.

Dynamic and playful training for all. From young to old, from beginners to professional athletes.

In addition to the games, advanced athletes in particular can let off steam in the workout section: The app includes numerous videos with a wide variety of planking variations. The intelligent board not only provides instructions for correct execution, but also constantly corrects the posture – boring standard planks are a thing of the past! The Plankpad app also includes a 30-day challenge in which the difficulty is increased every day.

The Plankpad can be used in many ways and specifically also as a balance board to focus training on leg muscles, body balance and motor coordination. With specifically developed games and the possibility to transfer the app to the TV, the Plankpad becomes a snowboard or surfboard. In this way, the training is combined with the necessary portion of fun and variety, which also appeals to all ages and fitness levels. Each Plankpad offers everything needed for a workout with your own body weight at home.

Prices and availability
The RRP for the Plankpad STUDIO Edition is 199 EUR / 249 CHF (incl. VAT), the Plankpad by Erzi is available for a RRP of 89 EUR / 119 CHF (incl. VAT). The Plankpad PRO made of premium maple FSC wood starts at an MSRP of 99 EUR / 129 CHF (incl. VAT). The Plankpads are available online at www.plankpad.com and in well-stocked stores.

About Plankpad

The Plankpad creates an exciting and convenient combination of fun and sport, becoming a play station for all ages in addition to a training tool. It is versatile and entertaining for all ages, genders, beginners and professionals. Through the app, it increases workout motivation, leading to better results. Plankpad combines wood and a soft non-slip surface with space for a smartphone or tablet. Plankpad always comes with its own app.

Burkina Faso beat Cameroon and qualify for next round of the Rugby World Cup Qualifiers in the Rugby Africa Cup Pool D Tournament
Burkina Faso beat Cameroon and qualify for next round of the Rugby World Cup Qualifiers in the Rugby Africa Cup Pool D Tournament

The Rugby Africa Cup Repechage (www.RugbyAfrique.com) which kicked off on June 5 saw three competing teams: Burkina Faso, Burundi and Cameroon, completing the round robin tournament yesterday at the Aout 4 stadium in Ouagadougou. The Stallions of Burkina Faso defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon by of 17 to 13 points.

After Ugandan referee Ms Saudah Adiru kicked off, the Stallions opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a try from No.8 Ali Papi Traore. But the conversion was missed. In the 16th minute, Burkina Faso were awarded a penalty courtesy of No.12 Adama Démé. This was followed   with a penalty in the 25th minute by Cameroon’s No.10, Noël Touko.

Half-time came with a lead from the organizing country by a close score of 5 to 3. In the 3rd minute of the second half, Ousmane Tioro of the Stallions (No. 15) managed to score a try. The Burkinabè team stood out as a very offensive team in this competition. The Stallions scored other tries (such as in the 20’20 by Cheick Abass Sawadogo). In the 30th minute, Cameroon got a penalty. During this decisive match, Cameroon accumulated two yellow cards for No.8 Moctar Hassan (20’55) and Moïse Chimi (No.14) in the 18th minute of the 2nd half.

Burkina Faso triumphed over Cameroon by a score of 17-13 in front of a more electrified and larger crowd of supporters than in previous matches. “I think the victory is deserved and I wish the Burkina Faso team good luck for the future,” said tournament director Mostafa Jelti. The victory seemed to surprise many sports observers given the lead the Cameroonian fifteens had taken in this tournament.

“Playing abroad is not easy. We gave it our all and it didn’t work out. It’s sport. We learned from our mistakes, “Indomitable Lions captain Justin Amougou said with fair play. According to Burkina Faso coach Cheikh Amidou Ouédraogo, morale, the youth of the players, aggressiveness in defence, speed in attacks and discipline were Burkina Faso’s strengths in securing the victory.

This Rugby Africa Cup Repechage was hosted by the Burkinabè Rugby Federation (FBR). According to its president, Mrs Rolande Boro, the organization has been successful despite the COVID-19 pandemic. She mentioned that the organizational difficulties are mainly linked to poor infrastructure.

Cameroon’s resounding return to African and World Rugby bodies was not ultimately a success. The “country of upright men” will thus join the 12th place in Pool D of the Rugby Africa Cup which is scheduled to be held in Tunisia from July 9 to 17. This round will be played out with Zimbabwe and Tunisia.

Local fishing ponds to be stocked with lunkers
Local fishing ponds to be stocked with lunkers
Anglers in the Salmon and Challis areas will see some giant trout lurking in local fishing ponds after Clear Springs Foods donated over 300 hatchery broodstock rainbow trout to Idaho Fish and Game.

The trophy-sized trout, which average nearly 9 pounds, were stocked earlier this week at Blue Mountain, Squaw Creek, Kids Creek, and Hyde ponds. Each pond received about 75 fish. Hayden Pond will receive a stocking of these large rainbows in the coming weeks.

Pond fishing is a great way to introduce kids to the sport, using simple set-ups like worm/marshmallow combinations or commercial baits like Power Bait or Crave, either near the bottom or below a bobber. Casting and retrieving spoons and spinners can also be an effective pond fishing technique. Community ponds provide a convenient, close-to-home opportunity for anglers of all skill levels.

Idaho Fish and Game regularly stocks these ponds with catchable-sized rainbow trout when conditions are favorable. The trout limit is 6, all species combined. The number of trout released may be altered by weather, water conditions, equipment problems or schedule changes. If delays occur, trout will be stocked when conditions become favorable.

IDFG Salmon Region fisheries staff wishes to extend a big ‘thank you’ to the folks at Clear Springs Food for donating the large fish, and to the staff at Mackay and Pahsimeroi Fish hatcheries for stocking them into the ponds throughout the region, as they are sure to be a big hit with local anglers.

For more on local fishing waters geared toward families, including descriptions of water, directions and facilities at each, visit https://idfg.idaho.gov/fish/family-waters/salmon.

Ahkeem Henderson Discusses the Benefits of Volleyball for Physical and Mental Health
Ahkeem Henderson Discusses the Benefits of Volleyball for Physical and Mental Health

Ahkeem Henderson and the benefits of Volleyball for Physical and Mental Health

Amateur volleyball player, Ahkeem Henderson, understands the benefits of the sport firsthand

RIVERSIDE, , ILLINOIS, , USA , June 10, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Volleyball is a fast-paced and versatile sport that can be played indoors, outdoors, or on the beach. And whether you play for a school, in a league, or just recreationally, it’s an excellent way to stay in shape while having fun! As a long-time fan and amateur volleyball player, Ahkeem Henderson understands the benefits of the sport firsthand.

Volleyball Improves Hand-Eye Coordination

Ahkeem Henderson and the benefits of Volleyball for Physical and Mental HealthIf you’ve ever played–or even just watched–volleyball, you know that the phrase “keep your eye on the ball” is every bit as applicable on the court as it is on the baseball field. Serving requires the ability to strike the ball at just the right point in the air. Playing defense means watching where the ball is going, and putting yourself in a position to strike back. When you’re setting, you have to know where your hitters are and “set” them up for success.

And all of this has to be done in the time it takes for the ball to fly through the air! While you may take a few dives and miss a few balls at first, the more you practice, the easier it becomes, says Ahkeem Henderson. This is because repeated movement strengthens the neural pathways in your brain that control coordination and muscle memory for those movements. Eventually, as you dive, spike, and serve, hand-eye coordination becomes second nature!

Volleyball Can Improve Your Mood Says Ahkeem Henderson
As an excellent form of exercise, playing volleyball can significantly increase your levels of serotonin, dopamine, and other endorphins, while inhibiting cortisol production. Endorphins are feel-good chemicals released by physical exertion. Cortisol is a stress hormone that causes inflammation, weight gain, and other negative side effects.

And since humans are social creatures, belonging to a team of players is also socially rewarding, says Ahkeem Henderson. Oxytocin–a hormone that aids in social bonding–is responsible for that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you think about the people you love. The more you interact with others in a positive and social environment, the happier you are!

Volleyball Improves Heart Health
Volleyball is also an excellent form of cardio, says Ahkeem Henderson. Between the running, jumping, and diving of a volleyball match, your heart rate is bound to rise. This helps circulate your blood more efficiently and oxygenates it, making it nutrient-rich.

Regular cardio can also help you keep your weight down by suppressing your appetite and burning calories. This can decrease the likelihood of developing harmful plaque in your arteries and put less stress on your circulatory system.

All of this contributes to a lower risk of heart disease and a healthier heart!

First Person: Owner of first ‘vegan football club’ scoring sustainable goals
First Person: Owner of first ‘vegan football club’ scoring sustainable goals

A football club in the west of England has been recognized by the United Nations for its leading role in setting goals to tackle climate change, from planning a low-carbon stadium to selling only 100 percent vegan food. Ahead of the kick-off  of the delayed Euro 2020 football competition, owner and chairman, Dale Vince, told UN News that the club aims to be a beacon of sustainability in the sporting world

“Forest Green Rovers began as a rescue mission for me in 2010. This 120-year-old club was facing closure and it happened to be located close to the town, Stroud, where I built Ecotricity, an energy company that aims to replace fossil fuels with sustainable green energy.

I’m a football fan so I thought I’d help out and just a day or so into owning the club, I started to recognize issues that really conflicted with my outlook and the way I lived. The first thing was red meat; we were serving beef lasagne to our players and I was horrified to find myself part of the trade-in meat which is so harmful to the environment. So, we stopped that. We then realized we had to change just about everything to create a green football club, something that had never been done before.

We were communicating with football fans who would stereotypically be considered a very difficult audience and not interested in climate and sustainability issues. We decided to weave sustainability into the DNA of the club, putting it on an equal footing with football.

We identified energy, transport, and food as, biggest sources of carbon emissions in Britain which represent 80 percent of everybody’s personal carbon footprint.

Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers has pioneered a football kit made from recycled plastic and coffee grounds.

So, we made installed solar panels and now the entire club is powered by 100% green energy. We provided electric car-charging points for fans. The grass of our pitch is organic, it’s free from pesticides and weed killers and we collect rainwater to irrigate the pitch rather than using mains water. Our club strip is even made from a composite material consisting of recycled plastic and coffee grounds.

We have created space for nature around the stadium with eco-trails where people can learn about what we are trying to do in terms of improving biodiversity. Slow worms and orchids thrive in those areas!  Our modeling shows a 20 percent increase in biodiversity on the land around the stadium

Then there was the transition to a vegan menu. This was radical 10 years ago and so counterintuitive because football can be macho and seemed an unlikely bedfellow of veganism.

Forest Green Rovers

Once built Eco Park will be the most sustainable football stadium in the world

We get described as the world’s only vegan football club and that has been a monster in terms of PR, in terms of making an impact by getting our message around the world.

Our next step is to build the 5,000-capacity Eco Park, made entirely from wood which will be the greenest football stadium with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.  It’s not just a football stadium and training ground but a 100-acre sustainable development project which will include a green tech business park, new wetland restoration of a canal, and parkland containing 500 trees and 1.8km of hedgerows.

‘Mistake to talk about making financial sense’

If you go back ten years, it was more expensive to be environmentally friendly than it is today. Solar panels were pricey and electric cars barely existed. Even plant-based food, which should be cheaper than meat, was more expensive.

I would say it’s a mistake to ask whether it makes financial sense to be sustainable. People often question how quickly will a solar panel pay for itself, but they never ask the same about their toaster, mobile phone, or car.

Looking at the big picture, even if it seems like it costs more on day one, it’s absolutely more economic in the long term to be sustainable because of the damage we are doing to the climate, wildlife, and habitats.

Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers has been recognized by the UN for its work on sustainability and climate action.

Example to others

I think this club has to lead by example; that’s how we bring about change. There are four Premier League clubs and some big clubs in Europe as well that, like Forest Green Rovers, have joined the UN’s Sports for Climate Action initiative, which aims to get the global sports community to take action to counter climate change. I think it’s human nature to see what your peers are doing and to feel that you need to join in.
Businesses are also reacting to what people want in terms of products and outcomes. I think football fans themselves are lobbying their clubs to act and they point to Forest Green Rovers quite frequently as an example to follow.

Our fans don’t just tolerate this sustainability concept, they embrace it in a life-changing way. So many of them have told me their families have gone veggie or vegan, drive electric cars, and have solar panels at home.
In my experience just about everything I’ve focused on in my career can be done better if it is done differently. One of the keys is absolutely to start with a fresh approach.

I also think it’s so important to have fun. If people see you enjoying yourself, they can feel that in your messaging and they are more likely to listen.  I don’t talk doom and gloom; I talk about what we can do”.

Oax Sport’s mission is to offer unique athletic experiences for athletes who reside in Oaxaca. It also supports and guides young aspiring athletes by managing their sports careers and by making sure they are seen and heard by being present in national events.

Rocío Toledo will represent Oax Sport in the highly competative Olimpic Triathlon. Dedicated and enthusiastic, Rocío has a proven resumé of excellence in her favorite sport.

“My final preparation is quite good. I have been very committed to training. In February, a medium distance competition I was going to attend was postponed. However, I tried not to slow down the preparation. The last few months have been heavier than usual because I am also at the end of the college semester. It is challenging to return to racing since it is my first competition after more than a year of the pandemic. Nevertheless, I am thrilled that it is in Huatulco.

Huatulco always feels like home, where there are many known people. It is also a challenging route due to the climbs and the climate (high humidity). Every triathlete knows the difficulty of this competition.

My goal is to give my best and represent Oaxaca well since very few women in the state practice the three disciplines. I am very excited since I always love that my friends and family are involved (they know they are part of all that). They always encourage me to do my best. AsTri Huatulco will be an exceptional competition. The challenge of managing a graduate degree and training will make you unique.” Rocio Nadxieli Toledo Lopez, triathlete sponsored by Oax Sport.

Oax Sport’s main competitor in Duathlon is Rafael Vasquez, with an extensive history of running and cycling successes, including many state championships.

“I am in the final stretch of preparation for the Duathlon AsTri Huatulco. I feel confident about reaching the top for the said event in such a beautiful place. I have good memories in Huatulco, where I got two podiums in different mid-distance and ultra-distance running events. I won the Ultramarathon de la Selva de Huatulco 100km. I was the only competitor to finish the race on time and pass through the time limits indicated by the event’s organization.

I have in mind to soon run an Ultra Trail or Marathon on the street and thus continue to lead by example in sports. I thank Oax Sport for the opportunity it gives me to compete in the Duathlon AsTri Huatulco. Let’s hope to achieve a podium.” Rafael Vazquez Fierro, athlete sponsored by Oax Sport, member of club Macizos Team.

Oax Sport Inc. is a non for profit sports agency incorporated in Texas. The agency supports local athletes by offering business and public relationship services. The corporation relies mainly on independent financial support and donation to continue its sports programs and support a wide range of aspiring athletes.

The “Rebellious” preparing to fly the Tunisian flag in Monaco
The “Rebellious” preparing to fly the Tunisian flag in Monaco

As we reach 50 days to the rugby sevens kick-off at the Tokyo Olympics, the Tunisian women’s rugby sevens team prepares to play their second World Rugby Sevens Repechage in Monaco (www.WorldRugby.org), with ambitions beyond Tokyo 2020.

The Tunisian women’s rugby sevens team has just spent a week at the French rugby union’s national centre in Marcoussis, near Paris. For several days, the Rebellious, the name the Tunisian players have given themselves, worked with the France team and the BelSevens of Belgium.

“We have had a good relationship for almost 10 years with David Courteix (the coach of the France team),” says Abbes Kherfani, coach of Tunisia. “We stayed put, we didn’t move, we were tested four or five times in all.”

In every sense of the word – from a logistical, health and sporting point of view – this camp prior to the World Rugby Sevens Repechage in Monaco was very beneficial for Tunisia.

On 19 June, the side will face Papua New Guinea, Kazakhstan and Jamaica in Pool B. The Tunisians would have appreciated a little more playing time to better prepare, but the COVID-19 crisis denied them this possibility.

“Our last competition was in the African Cup in October 2019,” says Abbes Kherfani. “We were nevertheless able to participate in two camps: the Rugby Africa solidarity camp with Madagascar and Kenya at the end of April and the beginning of May, then the one in France. These were the only possibilities.”

A Four-Year Trajectory

Fifth in the Dublin repechage tournament in July 2016, Tunisia failed to qualify for Rio 2016. This time, their second attempt, the Rebellious do not want to go unnoticed.

“We defend the Tunisian flag everywhere; we have nothing to lose. Our motivation is to play hard, to play to the end so that we have nothing to regret. There is a whole country behind us, we have a beautiful country to represent,” insists Kherfani.

In this nation where rugby is not the most popular sport, the Olympic dimension of the women’s national team encourages the press and public to mobilise and follow the tournament as they journey to Monaco.

In four years, women’s rugby in Tunisia has developed a great deal, thanks to the new federal office which wanted to focus on the sport’s grassroots in order to expand it, constituting U12, U14, U16, U18 and senior teams.

“It is thanks to this that we were able to participate in the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina in 2018 with the U18s. We lost our six games, but at least we were there!” says the former sevens and 15s international player.

Monaco first, Cape Town and Paris second

Among the group he is taking to the Principality, seven girls were part of the Youth Olympic Games and four were already present in the 2016 repechage. National coach since June 2020, Kherfani has his sights sets beyond Tokyo, with qualification for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in Cape Town, followed by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

But before that any of that, his side will face three strong opponents in Monaco. “Our first game will be against Papua New Guinea; it will be the big piece of the pool. In the Pacific, you know, it breathes rugby!” says Kherfani.

“Then we will play Kazakhstan and Jamaica, two teams that we are able to pass. We have one chance to get out of the pool.”

According to Kherfani “the girls are excited” to play in the Olympic Repechage in Monaco: “they’re going to give themselves 1,000 an hour!”

New Streaming Sports Talk Radio Network Takes Internet by Storm
New Streaming Sports Talk Radio Network Takes Internet by Storm

Steaming network’s array of sports talk programs feature a distinguished group of knowledgeable sports broadcasters and former professional athletes

UNITED STATES, UNITED STATES, June 7, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — 365Sportscast.com, a new, exciting streaming sports talk network, has been taking the Internet by storm since its January 3 launch, bringing under a single Internet umbrella an exciting array of sports talk radio shows that span the spectrum of major sports and satisfies the sports talk craving of fans looking for general sports and team-themed broadcasts.Hosting 365Sportscast.com’s programs are a distinguished array of knowledgeable sports broadcasters and former professional athletes who have joined to create a powerful sports talk broadcasting platform providing information and entertainment for both the rabid and casual sports fan. Listeners can access the network from a variety of entry points: from their computers, from a dedicated smartphone app, or by asking the virtual assistant Alexa.

365Sportscast.com was created by Mark Rosenman and A.J. Carter, whose long-running terrestrial radio program SportsTalk New York is the network’s flagship program, airing weekly at 6 p.m. EST Sunday. Together, they saw the promise of uniting unaffiliated sports podcasts by fan-broadcasters, journalists, and former athletes, creating a synergy to build the exposure and audience of the individual shows.

“As a medium, radio is not dead, but terrestrial radio is not at the cutting edge anymore,” Rosenman said. “On the other hand, podcasts, once considered the successor to sports talk radio because of its ability to feature focused, single-themed content, has become one vast sea of content, with little to distinguish the good from the bad and the with no unified banding. 365Sportscast fuses the best of both formats.”

“We need to seek our audience and reach them on their terms,” Carter said. “We hope all of our dedicated listeners will have no trouble finding us and that new listener will sample the range of programming that we believe is second to none.”

Listeners can access the station in the same way they would terrestrial or satellite radio, or they can locate archived programs of individual shows from the network’s website, www.365Sportscast.com. They can also download the free smartphone app for both Android and iPhones, or by downloading the app 365Sports for Alexa. The network’s website lists the programming schedule and includes pages on the individual shows, as well as links to those shows’ advertisers.

The network’s growing schedule currently includes:
• SportsTalk New York, hosted by Rosenman and Carter. The general-interest sports show features lengthy interviews with sports celebrities and authors – with some pop culture icons mixed in – and reports from a roster of beat reporters from all the major sports.
• BT Talks Baseball, hosted by Brett Topel., touches on all things baseball, with a slant on New York’s teams. Each week, the show features a guest or guests to support that week’s topic and to talk about the state of the game.
• The Interlocking NYs, hosted by Rick Antinori and Jimmy Palumbo, highlights the animosities and similarities that cross paths when fans on different sides in multi-team cities get together and talk about their sport.
• Starcastic Remarks, hosted by Ryan and Chris Chambers, focuses on anything and everything to do with the Dallas Stars, the NHL, and sometimes whatever they want.
• The Sport of Entertainment, hosted by Colin Cosell (grandson of legendary broadcaster Howard Cosell and currently the Mets’ public address announcer) and Paul Olsen, spotlights the inner workings of everything that entertains us at and around sporting events through painstaking research and amazing interviews.
• The Laidlaw-Allen Report. Former NHL defenseman Tom Laidlaw and former USA Today hockey writer Kevin Allen recap the latest NHL news including trades, rumors, draft prospects, as well as in-depth interviews with special guests.
• I.A.P. (In a Pickle), hosted by Dave Houghton and Greg McMorrow, examines the less glamorous side of baseball with a wide variety of special guests, ranging from ballplayers to baseball fans.
• The Walkoff brings a cross-border component to the 365Sportscast network with a program that focuses on the Toronto Blue Jays. Each week, Canadian standup comedians Adam Mac and Scott Belford dissect everything involving Canada’s major league baseball team.
• Karpin’s Korner, hosted by Howie Karpin, provides an insightful, unique and entertaining analysis of sports, with a particular emphasis on baseball, from someone who has seen it all for more than 40 years as an accredited official scorer in New York for Major League Baseball, an on-air update anchor for Sirius XM Sports and author of 10 books.
• A’s Stomping Ground, hosted by Brandon Greco, makes Oakland A’s fans all over feel like they have someone they can relate with about the team they love!
• House of Jerks, hosted by Brian Sine and Cameron Jereb, is primarily a show about the Carolina Hurricanes but also offers insights and explanations for both the diehard and novice hockey fan as they discuss all things hockey, from the NHL to local hockey clubs.
• In the Box Laidlaw and his fellow former New York Rangers teammates Ron Greschner and Dave Maloney share stories culled from their combined 2,343 NHL games.
• Outside the Studio, hosted by Matthew Blittner and Daniel Greene, takes listeners on a journey through the ups and downs of their favorite professional sports teams; both in NY/NJ and beyond.
• Under the Halo, hosted by Nick Avise and Jude Ahmad, two of the biggest Angels fans around, features special guests, breakdown games, news, trades, rumors, and everything else under the halo.
• Squid and the Ultimate Leafs Fan, hosted by Mike Wilson and Rick Vaive. Each week, Vaive and Wilson offer their unique perspectives and opinions on the current game and state of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The show will feature interviews of former and current players as well as great stories from Vaive’s great NHL career.

Argentina’s Andres Bilancieri Sets Course Record to Capture U.S. FootGolf Open
Argentina’s Andres Bilancieri Sets Course Record to Capture U.S. FootGolf Open

Historic finish in the men’s, women’s and senior divisions of the 2021 U.S. FootGolf Open

KISSIMMEE, FL, USA, June 7, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Argentina’s Andres Bilancieri shot a final round 15-under par 57 on the way to a two-shot victory in the 2021 U.S. FootGolf Open in Kissimmee, Florida. His 54-hole total of 31-under par set a course record on the Jack Nicklaus-designed, American FootGolf League modified layout at Reunion Resort. Fellow countryman Leo Dizeo finished in a three-way tie for second with California’s Nick Wallace and Angel Reyes. Wallace is captain of the U.S. World Cup team set to play in 2023.

There were historic finishes in both the Women’s and Senior Divisions Sunday as Mexico soccer standout Anjuli Ladron firmly established herself in this sport with a seven-shot victory over 2017 Open winner Joy Reid of Alaska. The two began the day tied for the lead until Ladron blistered the Nicklaus layout with two eagles, six birdies, and no bogeys.

Among the over 45-year-old bracket, Darrin Karuzas won his first U.S. FootGolf Open title after capturing three AFGL national championships. The Tarpon Springs, Florida tour player fired a 7-under par 65 that was good for three-day total of minus 23 and one-shot victory over Alaska’s Jeremy Johnson.

Former English Premier League player and Central Florida resident Alan Smith shot a final round even par-72 and finished the tournament at minus 5. Meanwhile, Karuzas’s 16-year son Carson posted a remarkable final round 5-under par to finish even for the tournament.

In closing ceremonies this afternoon, Walt Disney World Golf Director Alex Forsyth was named an AFGL Ambassador in advance of the famed courses hosting next year’s U.S. FootGolf Open and the 3rd biannual Jansen Cup featuring the U.S. vs. UK.

In presenting the award, AFGL Chairman Roberto Balestrini said, “Alex and Walt Disney World Golf have been instrumental in the growth of the sport and recreational play, and we deeply value his efforts.”

PlayersOnly’s tagline, “Your Sport. Your Platform,” encapsulates the company’s mission to bring a new form of social media for athletes and avid sports fans alike. Thus, delivering a unique sports community experience for all users.

The company’s mission is to create a user-friendly network where teams could be more efficient in identifying and targeting specific athletes with a skill set that coaches, recruiters, scouts or teams are looking to fill.

In the ever changing landscape of the marketing and sports industry; recruiters, marketers, universities, and teams have had difficulty staying at the forefront. Currently many athletes are overlooked and do not understand how to attract attention from schools. They lack resources and knowledge, which often leads to potential missed recruiting opportunities. Our platform’s recruiting service reduces the initial cost of visits and eliminates the need for standard letters to prospective student-athletes.

We designed this sports social network from the ground up to streamline what has typically been a cumbersome and time consuming process.

CEO Tuan Ma founded PlayersOnly in 2020 based on his strong passion for sports and a vision for a social experience that all athletes and sports fans could enjoy. “As a lifelong sports fan, I have always yearned for a platform that could combine my love of sports with my enjoyment of social media. I’m confident that the time is now to digitize, gamify, and socialize the way fans engage with their friends. I have created an innovative product and look forward to globally impacting the sports landscape.” Tuan is joined by COO Brandon Leopoldis, who brings years of experience, insight, connections and industry knowledge to the team. PlayersOnly has an excellent team primed to expand and committed to staying solution oriented.

Lahontan Cutthroat catch/release record inches even higher
Lahontan Cutthroat catch/release record inches even higher
Photo: Jon Urban of Eagle, Idaho hoists an 18.5-inch Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, claiming a new catch/release state record.

Congratulations to Jon Urban of Eagle, Idaho on achieving a new catch/release state record for Lahontan Cutthroat Trout. Jon caught the 18.5-inch trout while fishing Grasmere Reservoir in southwestern Idaho on May 28th. With this latest catch, Jon is back on the leader board after his first record Lahontan Cutthroat Trout was eclipsed in March by a new 17.25-inch record set by Stephen Veals.

Lahontan Cutthroat Trout are stocked in several of the “Riddle Lakes” in the remote high dessert south of Bruneau. While not native to Idaho, they were introduced to provide some unique sport fishing opportunity in the alkaline waters of this area.

Anglers looking to set a catch/release record should be prepared with a tape measure and a camera. Remember, catch/release records need to be broken by a minimum of 1/2″ to qualify.

Team Qhubeka ASSOS motivated for Tour de Suisse
Team Qhubeka ASSOS motivated for Tour de Suisse

Team Qhubeka ASSOS (www.TeamQhubeka.com) will take to the start of the Tour de Suisse, motivated to race well on the home roads of ASSOS of Switzerland, BMC Switzerland and On Running. The 8-stage race includes two time trials while the 6 road stages all incorporate a significant amount of climbing meters.

Team Qhubeka ASSOS has selected a team based upon the hilly terrain and will be led by Domenico Pozzovivo. Joining Pozzovivo will be our Swiss climber, Kilian Frankiny, fresh off the back of completing the Giro d’Italia.

Road captain Simon Clarke will marshal the troops on the road, with Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Nicholas Dlamini, Andreas Stokbro and Connor Brown completing our line-up.

We are grateful to Tyler Haab, who is our next fan to have assisted in announcing one of our race line-ups, with his brilliant video (https://bit.ly/3idLGnn) announcing our roster while cycling up the Col de Galibier.

Alex Sans Vega – Sport Director “Tour de Suisse is a beautiful race and a very difficult race. If a person is to think of Switzerland then normally, very big mountains are an immediate associated thought of the region. There are many mountains on the parcour this year, even the 2nd time trial has a significant climb, but we are confident in the team we have selected for this race. Our aim is to be active and show ourselves throughout the race, as this will be important for our Swiss partners and our fans in the region.”

Founded in 2007, Team Qhubeka ASSOS (formerly NTT Pro Cycling) became the first-ever African cycling team to gain a UCI WorldTour license, in 2016.

We achieved our first major win in 2013 when Gerald Ciolek won Milan-San Remo, one of the five Monuments of cycling. We have competed in six Tour de France’s and notched up 7 stage wins, with Mark Cavendish wearing the coveted Yellow Jersey at the 2016 Tour de France.

We are a multicultural, diverse team with bases in South Africa, the Netherlands and Italy. There are 19 nationalities represented across our World Tour and continental feeder team rosters. Our focus on developing African cycling has resulted in more than 55 riders from the African continent be given the opportunity to race on the world stage, since the team’s inception.

We race to help people to move forward with bicycles through our relationship with Qhubeka Charity. Through our work with Qhubeka, we have contributed to the distribution of over 30 000 bicycles in communities in South Africa.

About Qhubeka: Qhubeka is a charity that moves people forward with bicycles. People earn bicycles through our programmes, improving their access to schools, clinics and jobs.

A bicycle is a tool that helps people to travel faster and further, and to carry more. In the face of extreme and persistent poverty, bicycles can change lives by helping to address socioeconomic challenges at the most basic level – helping people to get where they need to go.

Insights: Five Days in May
Insights: Five Days in May

Three stage victories in just five days at the 2021 Giro d’Italia proved to be the most successful in our team’s history at the race. In this piece we take a look back at an incredible week for the team with further insights from those involved, who all played their part in putting their hands up for our team and its purpose.

In late 2020 it looked likely that the dream to exist at cycling’s highest level – the UCI WorldTour – for what is now Team Qhubeka ASSOS, could well be over. Without a major sponsor, hopes of survival looked slim with riders and staff encouraged to take up offers from elsewhere.

Fast-forward just over six months and Africa’s only UCI-registered WorldTour team, stunned all in winning three stages in just five days at the 2021 Giro d’Italia. In so doing, the team finished the race with the second most stage victories of any team, just one victory behind the Ineos Grenadiers; who also won the race overall.

The team’s survival into 2021 alone had been miraculous but this particular run of success gripped those in the sport and beyond, and once again shone the spotlight on the team’s continued messaging of its purpose to truly reach a global audience.

The spirit of Ubuntu – “I am because we are” – was showcased for the world to see.

Team Qhubeka ASSOS’ success at the Giro was not only down to its three stage wins but also featured two second-place stage finishes for Giacomo Nizzolo, two superb top-10 time trial performances from Max Walscheid, countless eye-catching breakaway efforts from Victor Campenaerts, a brilliant time trial from Domenico Pozzovivo who, as the team’s general classification hope, was sadly forced to withdraw due to injury after six stages and the hugely impressive supporting roles played by Bert-Jan Lindeman, Lukasz Wisniowski and Kilian Frankiny.

For Mauro Schmid, Giacomo Nizzolo and Victor Campenaerts their respective wins were a first at a Grand Tour. Each rider carried a completely unique story into the race, and with the support of their team they were able to deliver on a lifelong dream. As importantly, each of these successes spoke to exactly the value system that forms the foundation of Team Qhubeka ASSOS.

SUCCESS

Mauro Schmid at just 21 years of age, was only informed of his selection for the Giro d’Italia a fortnight ahead of the start, after impressing in his debut season. In 2020 he rode for the Leopard Continental Team and with the “baby” Giro cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, had all but given up a chance of finding a WorldTour spot in 2021. Less than year later he was a Grand Tour stage winner.

11 times Giacomo Nizzolo finished second on a stage at the Giro d’Italia. Two of those came in the earlier stages of this year’s race. It looked like once again he was destined to head home empty-handed with just one final opportunity in Verona on a fast, flat boulevard finish. In a stage not necessarily suited to him, the reigning European and Italian champion – finally – delivered a popular victory.

While for Victor Campenaerts, who for a long period was seen as one of the world’s best time trialists, 2021 brought the realisation that he needed to “reinvent” himself as a rider. In doing so he rode races he’d never ridden before, developed his race-craft to become a leading member of the team and then meticulously planned his own chance to achieve a life-long dream on stage 15.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

Mauro Schmid: Winner of Stage 11 – Montalcino

FOR ME IT WAS THE GOAL TO BE IN THE BREAKAWAY BECAUSE I ALREADY RACE STRADE BIANCHE THIS YEAR AND REALLY LIKED THE RACE, SO FOR THAT REASON I WAS READY FROM THE START. I DID A GOOD WARM-UP ON THE ROLLERS AND LUCKILY WE GOT AWAY PRETTY QUICKLY AND I WAS REALLY HAPPY TO HAVE BERT-JAN (LINDEMAN) THERE, HE WAS A HUGE SUPPORT.

I’m not sure how many people know but Bert-Jan had actually done the specific recon of this stage with Pozzo after Tirreno-Adriatico so he could tell exactly where to be at every corner, in every sector on the course. From the profile alone it was difficult to tell which sector could be a tough one, or which wouldn’t have an effect, but he knew exactly where I needed to be in front and this helped me a lot.

Then in the first two hours, on the flat, he definitely pulled a lot to ensure that we had a big gap over the peloton. This was very important for me as I could relax a bit as it meant that when we got closer to the finish I could focus on just beating the other guys in the break. He also did a very hard pull on the second sector, which in my opinion was the hardest one, but still far from the finish. This was crucial to see who could be strong, and he was able to create some pressure on the other guys.

In the final downhill, after the climb, I was fairly certain that nobody would come from behind us, so I sat on Covi’s wheel and waited for the upcoming sprint. I knew the final, more or less, but when you’re in the race sometimes it’s difficult to remember all the finer details. This is where the Sports Director (Aart Vierhouten in this instance) comes into his own and for me I was sure that my sprint was not bad. I knew that Covi had a good sprint too so I was planning to approach the final turn in second place; but Aart then told me to take the corner in front as it wasn’t that far to the line.

Why? Because it was uphill, it was important – perhaps it also would have worked if I’d taken it second – but I’ll never find out! As I went around the corner I thought that I needed to launch the sprint then as you had the advantage of the bike length which he needs to overtake you and I didn’t want to give him that. I launched my sprint with 200m to go, it was uphill and quite long but I knew that.

In the end it was hard to describe the feeling – I didn’t plan it at a marker on the course – I just felt when I needed to go. I wasn’t going full but quite hard and then I saw he came up and nearly overtake me; but I still had something left in the tank with 100m to go I shifted one gear up and pulled away.

He knew then that he couldn’t come back and it was a huge relief for me, you feel like you’ve won with 50m to go, and it’s a strange feeling as you just need to ride to the line.

It was a big shock (crossing the line). In the moment I didn’t realise what I’d just done because you’re so focused. You obviously race the whole race to win but when it eventually happens it’s a strange feeling.

Even one hour later I didn’t realised what I’d achieved in my first Grand Tour, it was amazing, and I needed some time for it to sink in so that I could realise what I had done. As Gabrielie Missaglia had said before the race “this race could change our lives”, and in that moment my life was changed forever.

Giacomo Nizzolo: Winner of Stage 13 – Verona

IN THE LAST COUPLE OF METRES I WAS THINKING THAT SOMEBODY ELSE WAS GOING TO PASS ME ON THE LINE – AGAIN – BUT IT DIDN’T HAPPEN AND I REALISED THAT FINALLY I GOT A VICTORY. AS EVERYONE HAD SEEN IN THE PREVIOUS SPRINTS THE TEAM WAS WORKING REALLY WELL AND WE’D JUST MISSED OUT TWICE, THIS TIME WE PUT A GOOD PLAN IN PLACE AND EXECUTED IT.

Crossing the line was an explosion of emotions and I’m still enjoying that moment right now. I really hope the next time that it won’t take 11 second -places for it to happen again!

The people around me felt that moment a lot. What I was able to give them as a sensation from this result – it was crazy and just nice, super-emotional.

Verona was the last chance for the sprinters but it was not actually my favourite chance as it wasn’t very technical finish but everything went well. I was calm at the right moments, waiting for the right opportunity and I just had good legs on the day. Even if it wasn’t my favourite finish line – now it certainly is!

Victor Campenaerts: Winner of Stage 15 – Gorizia

FINALLY, A GRAND TOUR STAGE WINNER! I’VE BEEN HUNTING FOR THIS FOR A LONG TIME, IT WAS REALLY ONE OF MY LIFE GOALS AND I’M JUST SO THRILLED TO HAVE ACHIEVED IT LIKE THIS, AND WITH THIS TEAM.

Already at the first rest day it was quite clear that if I wanted to win a stage that this would be my day; the parcours (race route) suited me perfectly. Things were just going incredibly well with the team from that rest day.

The day after Mauro wins the Strade stage, which was an incredible personal effort but also that of the team to get all the equipment ready for the Strade stage which was not easy, then two days later we managed to pull it off in the sprint with Giacomo and we’d been trying so hard – twice second – we messed it up twice.

It was an incredible feeling to get this incredible team victory with him, a sprint is always incredible, it has to come from the team as it’s almost impossible to do on your own at the highest level, and this day for me personally was very important.

I started out by talking with Max and saying well maybe we can do it together. We were chatting at the dinner table, everyone was excited and we were joking to have all the rollers ready at the start, for a flat start, while all the other teams were a lot more relaxed. I think that this was more or less the basis of the success of that day: a real belief as we prepared for the day as a team, and really going for it. It was great.

We did it exactly like we planned. We took off right from the start, all out, and then there was a crash. Of course we were frustrated as we were already away in the break, we wanted the race to go on as we’d put so much effort in. But soon it was quite clear it was a very dramatic crash with quite a lot of riders involved – almost every team had a rider down – we had Mauro in there. We were standing around for quite a long time and we just said that we stay right behind the bumper of the car because as soon as we lose the spot we lose our advantage. So in this chaos at that time there was a lot of talking in the radio, nobody really knew what was going on but we defended our position and we did exactly the same thing again.

It’s never happened to me in a road race before that in the team meeting it’s said: “today is a day for Victor” and Missa in the meeting really said “guys, we are all super-focused, we all want to be in the breakaway, we want to be represented with the most possible riders,” we had 50% of the team in the breakaway; but he also highlighted that if we’re in the breakaway that I am the man to finish the job.

It added a bit of pressure but I was ready for it and the guys showed me so much confidence. They just asked me what to do and they did it perfectly. Also, the moment that I did the right attack I also had Max in the radio that said and felt it, he was the one that gave me the instruction: “this is when you need to go”.

There was a 5km section that we planned my final attack and the ultimate point of that was actually chosen by Max, and then together with Wizzy they did a great job of slowing the pace behind me because it was clear the two riders I was away with, those were riders I could manage myself against against.

As a time trialist focusing on road racing you think about yourself winning stages from a solo effort but I also did a lot of effort in improving my sprint, working on being more explosive. To then win eventually in a sprint I think is even more emotional as you have to fight right until the last moment.

Sports Director – Gabriele Missaglia

THIS GIRO FOR US HAS JUST BEEN AMAZING. BEFORE THE START OF THE RACE MY GOAL WAS TO TRY AND WIN A STAGE AND A TOP-10 IN THE GC BUT AFTER THE CRASH FOR POZZO WE CHANGED OUR STRATEGY.

As a result won three incredible stages with this incredible team; because this is really a special, special organisation. Our spirit is Ubuntu – I am because we are – and I am happy. I am really proud of the team, the staff and everyone.

We cried (in the car) after Victor’s victory because this guy is very special. It was the same, just incredibly happy when Mauro won, I wanted him 100% in this race because I believe in him.

And for Giacomo, I was so emotional. I know just how much he wanted a victory after 11 second-places, and to be with him as an Italian director in our home race – this was a moment I will remember forever.

Team Principal – Douglas Ryder

I WAS SPEECHLESS AFTER WATCHING VICTOR’S WIN. YOU COULD SEE FROM THE START THAT THE COMMITMENT FROM THE TEAM, WANTING TO GO INTO THE BREAKAWAY AND KNOWING THAT IT WAS ONE OF THE LAST STAGES THAT WE HAVE IN THIS RACE.

For us to play to our strengths, to race for the stages that we prepared for and focused on then for it to come together the way it did was absolutely brilliant.

Three stage wins, three different riders with different qualities but with the same focus, passion and commitment from the whole team was amazing. Rarely does this happen in our sport where you have this run of success, especially in cycling where there are 180 guys going for the win on stages.

When you think there are 23 teams racing for 21 stages all trying to win and for us to win 3 stages, be second on two others, it’s just special.

Why? I think it’s our greater purpose; humanity is suffering and for us to have this greater purpose with Qhubeka – mobilising kids on bicycles and the happiness that we see when these bicycles are distributed so they can have hope and opportunity, that’s what’s given the team hope and connected us.

Ubuntu – we speak about it often and it’s printed on the back of our jersey – we cannot exist in isolation but only together resonates so deeply with our riders and it’s definitely shown during the Giro d’Italia.

It was an amazing, amazing Giro.

Mother of Women’s Judo Posthumously Tells Her Judo-Life Story in New Memoir with Celebratory Launch Event Saturday June 5th, 12–2 EDT

Rusty has that special quality that made you feel like you could fly…that you could do anything, because she was right there with you.”
— – Billie Jean King, Tennis Champion & Advocate

SEATTLE, WA, USA, June 4, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — World-class Judo Olympic Coach and women’s rights advocate Rusty Kanokogi’s long-awaited memoir launches June 5th with a star-studded virtual event. Join six international women’s judo Olympians, World Champions, and professional athletes, along with co-author Jean Kanokogi, PhD for a virtual book launch celebration, live reading, and panel discussion.Rusty Kanokogi is one of the most renowned yet unsung heroes of the past hundred years. In her new memoir, Get Up & Fight, published posthumously by her daughter Jean Kanokogi, Rusty shares the uphill battle she waged in her more than fifty-year career in judo fighting for women’s rights both on and off the mat—a journey which ultimately led her in front of the roaring crowds of the Olympic Games.

From Leader of a Coney Island Girl Gang to the Olympics:
Educated on the streets of Coney Island by “pitchmen and hustlers,” as a teen, Rusty found herself the leader of a girl gang, getting her kicks from street brawls and petty crime. She was headed down a dark path—until, as she put it, she “was saved by the sport of judo.”

In 1959 Rusty fought in a judo championship against a man and won, but when the judges discovered her gender, they stripped her of her title. Women were not allowed to compete—and certainly weren’t allowed to win. In that moment, Rusty made it her life’s mission to ensure that no woman would ever suffer such an indignity ever again. This vow sparked a lifelong career fighting for equality—a tireless campaign she would use to fan the flames of change for decades to come.

Rusty, known around the world as “the mother of women’s judo,” earned her notoriety birthing a movement, teaming up with tennis star Billie Jean King to help pass the infamous Title IX anti-discrimination legislation in 1972, founding and hosting the first Women’s World Judo Championship in 1980, and earning female judo athletes a place at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea for the very first time.

About Get Up & Fight
In her uniquely raw, unfiltered, humorous voice, Rusty recounts the tales of her remarkable life and journey from the rough streets of Brooklyn, to the offices of the political, powerful, and persuasive, where she established herself as a major force in the world of women’s rights and the sport of judo. Rusty’s memoir is a love story filled with passion and righteousness—for her sport, her family, and her way of life as a judoka.

Often called a pioneer, Rusty fought to give women voice and agency, in life and in sports. She did not see human limitations, only possibilities. The establishment told her “no,” but “no” was not a part of her vocabulary. Instead, Rusty fought like hell, and won.

In her own words, Rusty decided to “be the hammer,” not the nail. Her legacy lives on through this new memoir, which was her final gift to the world.

About the Authors:
Rena “Rusty” Kanokogi is recognized around the world as “the mother of women’s judo” for her immense contribution to the sport and her work ensuring women’s inclusion for the female competitors at the international level. In her more than fifty-year career, she became the first woman to attain the rank of seventh-degree black belt, founded the first Women’s World Judo Championship in 1980, and was the driving force behind women’s judo inclusion in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. Her many credentials include international judo competitor and referee, Olympic judo coach, equal rights advocate, and sports commentator. She is interred in the Kanokogi Samurai family burial site in Kumamoto, Japan, with the inscription “American Samurai.”

Jean Kanokogi, PhD, is a Senior Special Agent for the U.S. Government, with a career spanning twenty-three years in law enforcement. Jean has been the lead investigator on several high-profile cases, including the attacks on 9/11. “The daughter of women’s judo,” Jean is a fifth-degree black belt in judo and a highly respected sensei. She was on the U.S. national judo team, now known as USA Judo, and won several medals in international tournaments. She was one of the original signers of the American Civil Liberty Union suit to fight for women’s rights in the sport of judo, and is the co-author of her mother’s story.
