Many businesses could have avoided closing during the pandemic with a bilateral approach for operating safely.

We have to change the narrative, it is not about essential versus non-essential, it is about which businesses can operate safely.”
— Steve Anderson

TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, June 3, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — On June 1st, 2021, the non-profit association SmALL Business Is Essential United (SBE United) held a press conference addressing their opportunity to make an impact on communities and society. Change has to be made before a return to a better normal can occur. This conference was led by Edward Henry, President of Edward Henry Company and Social Distance Management along with Steve Anderson, President of the non-profit SmALL Business Is Essential United.A Global Pandemic – The Start of Division

On March 11th, 2020, the World Health Organization announced a global pandemic. Since then, we have watched our lives drastically change in ways we could have never imagined. We looked to each other and our communities for support, showed resilience, expressed appreciation for frontline workers, collaborated with one another, and were willing to go to any length to save lives. Then we became divided. We became divided in many ways by our politics, beliefs, and indifference. Our division became evident after the first lockdown was announced in Ontario. Our way of life was changing and we had do something different.

SDM’s Inception

Edward Henry explains he has never witnessed a global pandemic before but it is likely to happen again. Although we don’t know when it will happen, we need to focus on managing what we know.

Developing a system for business continuity that adequately addresses our way of life required the attention and collaboration of, epidemiologists, health and safety professionals, and business professionals as well as community champions. SDM began due to the lack of a sustainable plan and systems that addressed pandemic preparedness, sustainability, and universal safe business practices.

Social Distance Compliance standards for the management of space and cleanliness were developed. Through extensive research, SDM launched the Social Distance Advisory system to address preparedness, threat levels and vigilance. Risk assessments, self-assessment tools, industry traffic control plans for safe space management, and reporting and training guidelines for successful adoption continue to evolve and expand.

From SDM to SmALL Business Is Essential United – Steve Anderson for President

This expansion involved the decision to register SBE United as a not-for-profit association. SDM announces that they will donate all their developments, systems, and applications to SmALL Business Is Essential United (SBE United) while introducing a new leadership position. Steve Anderson, the new President of SBE United, is a social entrepreneur and Olympic Gold Medal Coach. Steve is immensely involved in communities with extensive networks. With so much integrity for community and small business, he is an unstoppable force.

Edward admires Steve’s fair and honest character and leadership style. Edward is confident that Steve will be the driving force to help SBE United grow communities across North America. Steve will promote universal safe business practices so that all businesses can thrive in their communities once again. SBE United is about all the challenges that communities are facing every day. The pandemic doesn’t care what our challenges are, therefore finding solutions requires bilateral thinking and collaboration.

SDM Releases Everything to SBE United for Free

The needed support and communication is the main reason SBE United was formed. Edward explains the transition from SDM to SBE United. SDM releases all of its completed resources and systems to the public in approximately 90 to 120 days. Resources will be free to access through SBE United by visiting sbeunited.org. The resources will include the entire conformity models for compliance in the following industries: sport and recreation, travel, hospitality and tourism, retail, personal services, restaurants, on-site services (residential and commercial), entertainment, and limited models based on crowd control, venue, and our facility, as well as further development done on construction/manufacturing. The conformity models include tools for risk assessment, traffic controls, reporting, monitoring, and training.

Governments, businesses, and not-for-profit industries will be given free access, but with certification only available through SBE United. Third-party certification will be offered through health and safety partners. Products, such as face masks, floor decals, signage, PPE, cleaning stations, hand sanitizer, and others will be sold and branded by SBE United. The revenue earned from those products will go directly to helping support small businesses, and SBE United’s office will continue the community initiative they have started by contributing to the work and future developments. All of the contributors will be published on the SBE United website, along with a list of the tools, resources and applications that have been developed along with reviews and certifications.

While there has been an ongoing argument regarding locking down and opening up, Edward has witnessed business owners having to permanently close their doors. There has to be an established framework that brings everyone together. It does not have to be a separate “for business, or for health” argument. It is combination of both and we need to come together as a community and make that happen.

SBE United – Our Vision

During a crisis and an emergency, businesses can be managed without non-essential and essential classifications. The goal is to focus on operating safely. We want to change the narrative from “response and recovery” and expand to “prevention and protection”. This very important conversation will establish safe continuity systems and change behaviors that will allow us to be protected from any future threats. Our behavior and mindset must change so that we can prepare for what may come.

This pandemic is giving us an opportunity to grow together and prepare ourselves for what will come in the future. We have been in survival mode for too long, and as we strive for success, it feels like we haven’t gotten to where we should be. Steve makes it clear that we need to get past the striving and start thriving. Edward adds, “Having limited power is no reason we shouldn’t do the right thing.”

Xceed Oakmoor Academy will provide flexible, college prep programs for middle and high school students

Our model focuses on subject mastery, not seat time, which allows students to complete their schoolwork at times they learn best and that work within their schedules—not the other way around.”
— CEO and co-founder of Xceed Preparatory Academy

DES MOINES, IOWA, UNITED STATES, June 3, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Recognizing the need for student-athletes to have more flexibility in their school schedules for training and competitions, Oakmoor Hockey Academy and Xceed Preparatory Academy announced today that they are partnering to open the Xceed Oakmoor Academy in Urbandale this August.“This is an incredible opportunity to provide families in the area—and beyond—with an alternative option for their children’s education,” said Brent Goldman, Ed.D., CEO and co-founder of Xceed Preparatory Academy, an accredited, private middle and high school with four campuses in Florida. “For years, our flexible, personalized and innovative model of education has served hundreds of students while enabling them to pursue their passions outside of school. We’re thrilled to partner with the Oakmoor Hockey Academy.”

Having trained top young hockey players from around the world over the last eight years, Oakmoor graduates have gone on to play for some of the top NCAA D1 and D3 programs and junior leagues in North America including the USHL, NAHL, BCHL, MJHL, OJHL and NCDC. Fourteen Oakmoor graduates have suited up for their national teams to represent their countries in international play.

Oakmoor provided educational programs for its students in the past, but never physically at its facility before; that will change with the opening of Xceed Oakmoor Academy.

“I am so excited to bring Xceed’s model of education to students here in Des Moines,” said Ryan Bennett, president of Oakmoor Hockey Academy’s Board of Directors. “Xceed has extensive experience working with student-athletes: from basketball players, international race car drivers and show jumpers to wrestlers and tennis players, the team at Xceed understands the demands on athletes and has developed an innovative college prep program personalized for each student. This partnership is a game-changer.”

“During the pandemic, families realized that school doesn’t have to look the same as it has for generations,” Goldman added. “Our model focuses on subject mastery, not seat time, which allows students to complete their schoolwork at times they learn best and that work within their schedules—not the other way around.”

The Xceed Oakmoor Academy model will emulate what’s already in place at the Xceed DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida, an elite, multi-sport training and educational institution for basketball, volleyball, soccer and hockey players.

“Xceed’s teachers are exceptional,” said Dan Panaggio, co-founder of DME. “They teach students to take control and responsibility of their lives, which is extremely important. Elite and pro athletes have the capacity to learn and want to learn—it’s a mindset. And with Xceed, we help our athletes keep their brains functioning more efficiently and effectively than a traditional school can. The sky’s the limit for our kids and I’m so excited for their athletic and academic futures.”

“For entrance into the Hockey Academy, players must make the team,” said Bennett. “But, for regular classes at Xceed Oakmoor, we’re eager to open our doors to student-athletes from other sports, as well as non-athletes looking for a different type of educational experience.”

Included in the cost of tuition is personalized college counseling and dual enrollment courses through Outlier and the University of Pittsburgh.

“We are truly preparing all of our students for college and life,” shared Goldman.

Margaret Wambui: Kenyan Olympic medallist requires third class in athletics
Margaret Wambui: Kenyan Olympic medallist requires third class in athletics
Kenya’s Margaret Wambui won bronze over 800m at the 2016 Olympics in Rio

World Athletics should introduce a third category of events in order to allow competitors with high testosterone levels to compete in their preferred disciplines, Kenyan 800m runner Margaret Wambui has said.

Like other athletes classified as having differences of sexual development – or DSD – Wambui cannot contest any distance between 400m and one mile in the female category unless she artificially reduces her testosterone levels.

The Kenyan was an 800m bronze medallist at the 2016 Olympic Games.

“It would be good if a third category for athletes with high testosterone was introduced – because it is wrong to stop people from using their talents,” Wambui told BBC Sport Africa.

The sport’s governing body, World Athletics, says it has no plans to introduce such a category and will stick to its current classifications of men’s and women’s events.

The idea of a third category in athletics has been floated before

Bethesda MD Siblings to Represent US at Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships

Brother-sister acrobatic gymnasts, Nicole and Shawn Powell.

Siblings, Nicole and Shawn Powell, defy the odds to make the US team for upcoming 2021 international acrobatic gymnastics competitions in Geneva, Switzerland.

BEHTESDA, MD, US, June 3, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — On April 26, 2021, USA Gymnastics announced its selection of Bethesda-based siblings Nicole and Shawn Powell to the US team for the upcoming 2021 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships and World Age Group competitions in Geneva, Switzerland. The award-winning brother-sister duo overcame daunting physical and emotional challenges to win their coveted spots on the 2021 team.“My brother and I are thrilled to represent the US at the World Acrogymnastics Championships,” says Nicole Powell. “I was hoping to make the US team four years ago but I fell during the nationals. Thankfully, I wasn’t injured but that fall cost me and my partner a shot at the USA team that year. We were devastated.”

Nicole is referring to the Milwaukee 2017 USA Gymnastics Championships where she fell after coming out of a complicated acrobatic gymnastics maneuver. She and her “acro” partner then split—not because of the Milwaukee defeat, but simply because Nicole, then a healthy 13-year-old, was outgrowing her partner; she could no longer support her weight.

Making the USA team seemed all but impossible in 2017 when Nicole’s sister suggested Nicole pair up with their brother Shawn. Shawn, then 15 years old, wasn’t particularly athletic and had no gymnastics experience whatsoever. Nonetheless, he agreed and after a year of grueling daily workouts and emotional ups and downs, the team won the gold at the 2018 USA Nationals for Acrobatic Gymnastics. Shawn and Nicole went on to win five more gold medals that year, and several more in 2019 until COVID-19 shut down sporting events in 2020.

“When I first agreed to partner with Nicole,” explains Shawn, “I told myself I’d quit if I didn’t like it. But I then realized how cool it was to push myself to the limits of the human body’s capabilities. And it was really gratifying when people came up to me after a performance and told me how much they loved it, or how beautiful they thought Nicole and I were. Once you get a taste of that, you kind of fall in love with it.”

The siblings ended their partnership in 2018 when Nicole once again outgrew the “top” position and would need to assume the bottom position, referred to as the “base,” from then on. She went on to work with various women’s acrogymnastics groups until becoming part of her current three-woman acro team chosen to represent the US in the 11 to 17 age group at the upcoming World Age Group competition. As for Shawn and his new female partner, they will be alternates in the 12 to 19 age group.

Acrogymnastics is not the only interest Shawn and Nicole have in common. The siblings also work in the thriving family business—StarBrite Dental in Rockville, MD–founded by their mother, Dr. Maryam Seifi. “I’m so proud of what Shawn and Nicole have accomplished,” says Dr. Seifi. “Most younger acrogymnasts are home-schooled to allow them more time to work out. Not Shawn and Nicole—they both attend demanding private schools and keep up with their schoolwork while competing.”

In addition to their administrative jobs at StarBrite Dental, the Powell siblings have performed gymnastics routines on StarBrite’s behalf to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics of Maryland Organization.

As for the future, Shawn plans to retire from the sport after the World Championships. Already accepted into the University of Maryland’s aerospace engineering program, he intends to work for NASA as an aerospace engineer and someday open his own private aerospace company, a la Space X. Nicole is undecided on her next step but will either stay with acrogymnastics for another year or retire after the championships. Regardless, she intends to ultimately follow in her mom’s footsteps to become a leading dentist in the community.

Tokyo 2020: Olympics ‘100%’ going forward – Video games president Seiko Hashimoto
The 2020 Olympic Games were postponed by one year because of the Covid-19 pandemic

Tokyo 2020 president Seiko Hashimoto is “100%” certain the Olympics will go ahead, but warned the Games “must be prepared” to proceed without spectators in the event of a coronavirus outbreak.

There are 50 days until the delayed Tokyo Games begin on 23 July.

Japan is battling a surge in coronavirus cases, with large parts of the country under a state of emergency.

Hashimoto told BBC Sport: “I believe that the possibility of these Games going on is 100% that we will do this.”

Speaking to BBC Sport’s Laura Scott, she added: “The question right now is how are we going to have an even more safe and secure Games.

“The Japanese people are feeling very insecure and at the same time probably feel some frustration at us talking about the Olympics and I think that is giving rise to more voices opposing having the Games in Tokyo.

“The biggest challenge will be how we can control and manage the flow of people. If an…

The passion, competitiveness, and immense desire to be recognized as champions by their peers have inspired the players to do everything humanly possible to get to that final hole with a chance to win”
— AFGL President and CEO Laura Balestrini

KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA, USA, June 2, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — If history is any indication, the U.S. FootGolf Open, being played June 4-6 at the Reunion Resort and Golf Club in Kissimmee, Fla., is likely to go down to the final kicks.Sharif Khatib of Los Angeles seeks to defend his 2019 championship (Covid-19 prevented the event from being played last year) in an international field that will include 2018 champion Ben Clarke of Berhamsted, UK and Matias Perrone of Argentina, the reigning FIFG FootGolf World champion who captured the inaugural U.S. FootGolf Open in 2014.

In 2019, Khatib needed every one of his five birdies at Reunion to post a final round 67 and earn a one-shot victory over Clarke and Switzerland’s Lionel Jacot. The latter made a legendary charge with birdies on the final four holes (six on his final nine) for an eight-under-par 64 on the final day. Clarke, the top-ranked FIFG player five years running, held off Nicolas Garcia and Julian Nash to win the 2018 U.S. FootGolf Open in Oxnard, Cal. and needed a shootout victory to secure second place against Jacot in 2019.

This week’s tournament marks the fourth time the U.S. FootGolf Open will be played at Reunion but the first time on the newly-upgraded par-72 Jack Nicklaus course. The U.S. and Mexico opens feature a combined $20,000 in prize money and U.S. Open competitors in the Men’s Division are also vying for two guaranteed spots in the FootGolf World Cup.

FootGolf came to the U.S. in 2011, but it was the creation of the U.S. Pro-Am Tour — and with it the U.S. FootGolf Open in 2014 — that spurred interest in the U.S. on an international level and helped advance the performance of U.S. competitors.

“The 2014 U.S. Open, part of the U.S.Pro-Am Tour with its cash purse of $25,000, was the first FootGolf competition in the U.S. to give players the feeling of becoming ‘professionals’ in the sport they love” said Laura Balestrini, co-founder, President and CEO of the American FootGolf League.

Another turning point came in 2016 when the AFGL, the governing body of the Major League sport of FootGolf in the U.S., created its AFGL Tour. That same year, Women’s and Senior Division champions were crowned at the U.S. FootGolf Open.

“The U.S. Open has become very important to our FootGolf world,” Balestrini said. “In 2019 we hosted players from 20 countries and across the U.S. The passion, competitiveness, and immense desire to be recognized as champions by their peers have inspired the players to do everything humanly possible to get to that final hole with a chance to win one of the most prestigious competitions in this young sport.”

Khatib’s 2019 triumph was the first by an American under the AFGL Tour format. Players bound to challenge him this week include Alex Hood of Boynton Beach, Fla., the current American FootGolf League points leader (who won the first two tournaments of the season on Florida courses in Largo and Port New Richey), and Bart Wojtyla of North Hollywood, Cal. who is second in the AFGL standings. Wojtyla birdied the final three holes of regulation, then defeated Jorge Uricona of Annandale, Va. to win the May 15-16 Tennessee 250 in Memphis. Angel Reyes of Glendale, Cal. enters the U.S. FootGolf Open with nine top-three finishes (two wins) in his 12 career AFGL starts.

On the women’s side, Jo Reid of Anchorage, Alaska, the 2017 U.S. FootGolf Open winner and two-time U.S. National champion, will lead the field at Reunion. Oklahoma City’s Laura Parker, no worse than second in any of her AFGL starts the last two years and fresh off her victory at Memphis, figures to provide the strongest challenge.

In the Senior Division, defending U.S. Open champion Gyorgy Podusil of Budapest, Hungary and three-time U.S. National Champion Darrin Karuzas of Tarpon Springs, Fla. are expected to be the leading contenders. Karuzas currently tops the AFGL, North American, and World Tour Senior rankings.

Spring and early summer are prime time for Treasure Valley ponds
Spring and early summer are prime time for Treasure Valley ponds

Love fishing but can’t seem to find the time to travel for an extended trip to a favorite lake, reservoir or river? That shouldn’t prevent anglers in the Treasure Valley from picking up their rod and reel and fishing on a weekend, or after work, because there are ample fishing opportunities nearby.

Idaho Fish and Game regularly stocks public waters across the Treasure Valley, and ponds are easy to access and home to a variety of fish species.

Pond fishing for stocked rainbow trout is a great way to introduce kids to the sport, using simple set-ups like worm/marshmallow combinations or commercial baits like Power Bait or Crave, either near the bottom or below a bobber.

Many of these ponds sustain warmwater fish populations, including quality bass and bluegill, and some are even stocked with channel catfish. As stocking of rainbow trout winds down in the warmer months, fishing for warmwater species is often at its best. Community ponds can be great places to test out new tackle and gear, or to hone your fly-casting technique. The best part about it? There is probably one within minutes of your front door.

As the weather begins to warm, the days get longer, and you start to feel the itch to get out and fish, purchase your 2021 Idaho Fishing License and go out scratch it at one of the top ponds in the Treasure Valley. Click on the names of each of the ponds to visit Idaho Fish and Game’s Fishing Planner, a powerful tool for anglers where there is more information on each fishery, as well as stocking plans and historical stocking records.

This 5.5-acre pond located southeast of town offers its best fishing in the spring, as weeds become an issue around June. There are opportunities to fish from the bank, as well as a small fishing dock and a small boat ramp for launching small boats and float craft. Both the dock and the on-site bathroom are ADA accessible.

Fish and Game typically stocks Duff Lane Pond with around 250 catchable rainbow trout every month from March through June, and in October in the fall. Anglers can keep up to six trout. The pond also has established populations of bluegill and bass.

This 4.5-acre pond is actually two ponds connected by an underground culvert. It offers fishing for a variety of species. It is generally stocked monthly with rainbow trout between February and June, and in October and November. Larger, adult rainbow trout are stocked periodically as well. Anglers can keep up to six trout. In addition, Kleiner Pond has a self-sustaining population of warmwater fish, including bluegill and bass. Yellow perch have been observed as well. Kleiner Pond has been known to produce some good-sized bass and trout.

The pond is very accessible, with ample off-street parking, paved paths that lead to plenty of open, grassy shoreline for bank fishing, as well as a large fishing platform. Boating is prohibited. While it is the centerpiece of the huge Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park, located near The Village, the pond is only one of a multitude of activities for all ages. The park includes a bandshell/amphitheater, half-court basketball, bike racks, bocce ball, a community garden, concessions, a playground, restrooms, sand volleyball, horseshoes, a splash pad, and more. All this makes Kleiner Pond a great place to bring the whole family for a weekend outing centered around fishing.

While it is not stocked with trout by Fish and Game, and access can be a little trickier at this pond, the bass and bluegill fishing at this former Idaho Transportation Department gravel quarry make it worth a look. Crappie and bullhead catfish have been observed in the pond as well.

In 2016, Fish and Game made improvements to this 18-acre pond, including a new dock and parking area. The pond is open to boating, but only if you are able and willing to carry your watercraft in from the parking lot. Red Top Pond is managed as a walk-in and carry-in only access site, and the parking area is about 150 yards away from the bathroom and 200 yards from the dock. For those willing to walk, the pond also offers plentiful bank access with almost wide-open shorelines.

Anglers and other recreationists should be aware that only Red Top Pond is open to the public. The adjacent ponds to the east and north are on private property, and there is no public access to them.

Riverside Pond epitomizes urban fishing. This small but popular 2.4-acre pond is tucked into the trees in a quiet neighborhood park – near the bustling Riverside and Northgate shopping centers. It was recently improved with a new, large fishing dock and pathway, making it safer and easier to access for anglers of all ages and mobility levels – but it’s also a great place to set up a lawn chair and fish from the bank.

Typically, Fish and Game stocks the pond with catchable rainbow trout twice a month from February to June, and from the end of September through the beginning of December. Channel catfish have been stocked on occasion as well.

Good bank access, large numbers of stocked trout relative to the pond’s size, and a self-sustaining population of bluegill make this pond a great choice for younger anglers. Amenities on-site include a small parking lot and bathroom.

This pond — coming in at just over a half acre — may be small, but it is a very popular fishery in a large and very popular city park.

Fish and Game stocks Settlers Pond twice a month in the spring and fall with catchable trout, and periodically with larger adult rainbow trout and channel catfish. The pond is also home to a self-sustaining population of warm-water fish. The pond has great fishing from the bank with a wide-open, grass covered shoreline, and anglers can pull some quality trout out of the pond, especially around the time right after the adult trout are stocked.

The amenities at Settlers Park make this fishery an easy one to bring kids along with you on the weekend. Access is made easy with off-street parking. If they get bored with the fishing, there is tons of playground equipment, climbing structures, concessions, drinking fountains, walking paths. For older kids and adults, there are horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and more.

This 16-acre pond offers opportunities on a variety of species, and was recently upgraded with new fishing docks to make it more accessible for anglers. Rotary Pond is stocked with rainbow trout and channel catfish, and it’s in a park-like setting with plenty of shade. Lots of bank fishing also offers young anglers easy access to fish for bluegills and bass. There is no boat ramp, but the use of small watercraft and float tubes is allowed.

There is off-street parking, a one-mile walking path that loops around the pond, and bathrooms on-site.

One of Boise’s newer parks offers a fun place to fish right in town. The 13-acre pond is typically stocked monthly with rainbow trout from February through June, and October through December. Anglers can keep up to six trout. It also holds bass and other warm-water fish. The pond is connected to Esther Simplot Pond II and Quinns Pond, and the three ponds combined total about 46 acres of fishable water – providing plenty of room to spread out and lots of bank fishing opportunities for young anglers. The ponds are also open to non-motorized boating. Big bass and trout can be found here.

As with Kleiner Pond and Settlers Pond in Meridian, Esther Simplot Pond is surrounded by activities for all ages. The park includes trails, a sand beach and a shallow children’s swim area, docks, wetlands, boardwalks, shelters, grassy open areas, a playground, bridges and restrooms. Boat rentals are also available from a nearby business.

Located within Marsing Island Park and separated from Snake River only by a grassy peninsula, Fish and Game normally stocks this four-acre pond wih trout once a month year-round, conditions permitting. It’s a great spot for catching trout, and the pond also has a self-sustaining population of bass and bluegill. There is a fishing dock, and room for bank fishing along the east side of the pond. If catfish are your preferred quarry, you can throw a line in the Snake River on the other side of the park.

The park has off-street parking, recently renovated bathrooms, a walking path, picnic tables and grills, a playground and a handful of large trees that provide shade in the late spring and summer months.

Also known as Norms Pond, this 1.2-acre fishery in West Boise is well used and is a popular spot for trout fishing. Fish and Game stocks the pond with trout seasonally in the spring and fall, and with catfish when the weather gets warmer. Bluegill and bass can be caught here, too. Anglers should be aware that they can only keep two trout from this pond.

Although there is no dock, a paved path around the pond is connected to an off-street parking lot, allowing for easy bank fishing access all around the pond’s open shoreline. There is a bathroom on-site.

Ease of access makes this pond in a park setting near downtown Boise a great place to sneak in an hour of fishing after work. The 7.8-acre pond sustains populations of bass and bluegill and also holds some perch. It is stocked seasonally in the spring and fall with trout, and periodically with channel catfish. While the trout fishing here is marginal, the pond is known to produce some big catfish, and is home to a famous sturgeon or two — so if you plan on bringing kids along, be sure to keep an eye on their fishing rods. The pond includes fishing docks, and is open for the use of small watercraft and float tubes. There is plenty of room to set up a lawn chair and fish around the bank, too.

Anglers should be aware that they can only keep two trout from this pond.

Amenities at the small park include off-street parking, ADA accessible docks and bathrooms, walking and biking paths around the park, picnic areas with grills, and sand volleyball courts.

Sawyers Pond is a diverse fishery that is actually a series of three ponds, totaling about 35.3 acres, near Emmett. Anglers enjoy early season fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish and rainbow trout. Sawyers Pond is very popular with people in the Treasure Valley because of its close proximity to population centers. It is also a great place to take young anglers who are just learning to fish. Fish and Game stocks the pond with trout in the spring and fall, and periodically with channel catfish.

The pond was renovated in 2015, when Fish and Game improved connectivity among the ponds, repaired and replaced docks, and moved the boat ramp to a safer location. Fish and Game also replaced existing outhouses and improved ADA accessibility.

Among the newest community ponds in the Treasure Valley, Dick Knox Pond only opened to the public in 2020, but it already had a well-established warmwater fishery when it was donated  to Fish and Game. Anglers will find lots of largemouth bass and bluegill, along with perch, crappie and common carp in the 20-acre pond. Hatchery staff have been stocking rainbow trout for nearly a year now, adding a put-and-take trout fishery. The largemouth fishery is particularly noteworthy, as the pond is home to some serious lunkers.

There is a ton of bank fishing access in addition to five floating docks, one of which is ADA accessible, as well as a small boat launch and boat trailer parking spaces. There are no boat motor restrictions, but the pond does have a no wake provision.Other amenities include two restrooms and ample parking for vehicles.

General fishing rules apply at Dick Knox Pond, with six fish limits of trout and largemouth bass, and no limit for other species. Largemouth bass must be at least 12 inches long to be kept.

If you’re noticing a small trend here, you’re not imagining it – Emmett might be the pound-for-pound king of community pond fishing in the Treasure Valley. Dick Knox and Sawyers ponds are a literal stone’s throw away from each other, and the Emmett Airport Pond – which isn’t listed here but also can also be solid warmwater fishery – is a short walk away

A small neighborhood pond located in Kuna, this 1.6-acre pond provides easily accessible fishing for trout, bass and bluegill within Nicholson Park, next to Indian Creek in Kuna. Generally, Fish and Game stocks the pond with catchable trout monthly when conditions permit, and periodically with larger adult trout — making it a popular spot for trout. There is no dock, but there is plenty of room to fish from the bank.

Amenities at the park including an off-street parking area, a picnic area, a portable toilet, and access to Indian Creek.

It’s a tale of two ponds at Marianne Williams Park in East Boise. While the nearby Loggers Pond is not stocked with trout (and is just a marginal bluegill and bass fishery), Williams Pond is stocked by Fish and Game and provides good fishing opportunities for the species. Anglers can also target bluegill and bass here.

Williams Pond is located right next to the Boise River and Greenbelt — making it easy to access on bike or foot — and has its own walking path around the shoreline that makes access for bank fishing easy. The pond also has a large fishing platform. Other amenities at Marianne Williams Park include a gazebo, picnic shelter, off-street parking, restrooms and benches.

Wilson Springs Pond Complex (Nampa)

This network of five ponds near Fish and Game’s Nampa Hatchery totals about 17 acres. Four of them — including Beachs Pond, the North Pond, South Pond, and Trophy Pond — provide good fishing opportunities. Fish and Game recently deepened the ponds, resulting in more places to fish and deeper water to hold bigger fish.

Depending on the pond, target species include bass, and panfish. Fish and Game stocks rainbow trout frequently when conditions permit. Anglers can only keep two trout from these ponds. There are fishing docks on Beachs Pond and the North Pond.

There is a restroom near the off-street parking area, and another on the north end of the paved path that circles the complex. There are also unimproved trails that allow kids to fish from shore and explore, making this a popular family destination. The Wilson Springs Ponds are also a popular area for birding.

Fish and Game stocks this 2.3-acre pond with trout in the fall and spring. Anglers may keep two trout from this pond. Weiser Community Pond is also home to a self-sustaining population of bass and bluegill.

With a wheelchair accessible fishing pier and restroom, a paved path around the pond and easy access to the shoreline, this pond is a fun fishing spot for people of all ages and mobility levels. The good bank access and large numbers of stocked trout relative to the pond’s size make it a great place to introduce kids to fishing. An adjacent nature trail makes for some good exploring.

Just north of town on Idaho 55, this pond is a little out of the way, but features easy access and really good fishing for trout, bass, bluegill and catfish in a scenic setting next to the Payette River. There is plenty of parking, lots of bank access for fishing, an outhouse, and a small boat launch — and at 12.5 acres, there is plenty of room to spread out.

Mariposa Pond (Sterling Park Pond) (Boise)

Mariposa Pond in is one of the Treasure Valley’s newest community fishing ponds, and it’s located in West Boise. The roughly half-acre pond can be found in the northwest portion of Mariposa Park, which is located at the corner of W. Irving St. and N. Mitchell St. in West Boise. There is good access for bank fishing around the entire pond. Fish and Game stocks the pond with catchable rainbow trout in the spring and fall.

General fish rules apply at Sterling Pond, including six-fish limits on trout.

Other amenities include a fenced off-leash dog area and open play areas.

This easily accessible 5.7 acre pond along the Payette River offers partially paved access and a variety of fishing options. Near the confluence of the Payette and Snake Rivers, this gives anglers the choice of fishing the pond or either river.

Rainbow trout are stocked in the pond throughout the spring and fall, and the pond is also home to warmwater species like bluegill and largemouth bass. The trout limit for the Payette Greenway Pond is six.

Anglers who plan to fish the nearby Snake and Payette rivers can fish for smallmouth bass and catfish.

At 30 acres, Heroes Park has a number of amenities in addition to the half-acre fishing pond, including soccer fields, playgrounds, shelters, restrooms, trash receptacles, bike racks and drinking fountains. Heroes Park is maintained by the Meridian Parks and Recreation Department. The bank around the pond is wide open, making fishing from the bank a breeze.

Fish and Game stocks the pond with rainbow trout in the spring and fall. The trout limit is six.

Owned by the City of Star, this pond was just recently opened to the public. Hatchery staff began stocking rainbow trout in 2020, adding additional opportunities to those provided by a self-sustaining population of largemouth bass and bluegill. Its nearby sister pond (Star City Pond East) isn’t stocked with rainbow trout, but does hold bass and bluegill as well. The ponds are located adjacent to a public access point for the Boise River, so additional fishing opportunities are close by.

There is ample bank access for anglers at at Star City Pond West, but anglers should note that a portion of the pond (on the north side) is private property and closed to the public. There is a nearby paved parking lot, located at 960 Main Street, from which anglers will have to walk in to access to the pond. No vehicles are allowed near the water.

Joint statement by World Rugby, RFU, WRU, IRP and Progressive Rugby
Joint statement by World Rugby, RFU, WRU, IRP and Progressive Rugby

Following a virtual meeting yesterday, World Rugby (www.WorldRugby.org), The RFU, WRU, International Rugby Players and Progressive Rugby are encouraged by constructive and positive initial dialogue regarding the sport’s commitment to player welfare advancement at all levels.

All parties care deeply about rugby and its playing community and want the sport to be all it can be for everyone and, while recognising that there are naturally some differing views on how to achieve that goal, we are encouraged that there is much common ground in terms of current and future focus areas.

One of rugby’s strengths is that it is a diverse and inclusive global family of people who are unwavering in their passion for the sport and the welfare of its present, future and past players, whether they be administrators, players, coaches, fans and medics.

This meeting has established a line of dialogue, but just as importantly, an understanding of a common goal: the continued advancement of player welfare in rugby at all levels of the game. We look forward to continuing the conversation to deliver on this shared goal.

Game and Fish proposes five instream flow water rights to protect native trout
Game and Fish proposes five instream flow water rights to protect native trout

092819 Instream Flow Project Daniel Wyoming MartinThe water rights are important to maintaining populations of Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout in their native range.

6/1/2021 8:16:27 PM

CheyenneFive stream segments of crucial native trout habitat are proposed for streamflow protection in Wyoming. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking instream flow water rights for sections of Burroughs, Sheridan and Stonefly Creeks and the Middle and West forks of Long Creek on the Shoshone National Forest in the Upper Wind River drainage. The water rights are important to maintaining populations of Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout in their native range.

Instream flow water rights are one of the tools Game and Fish uses to protect fish habitat and essential river functions. The rights ensure water keeps flowing in streams for fisheries purposes, while protecting existing water users, and it is based on the same laws used for other kinds of water rights.

“Water is the most important part of fish habitat. Maintaining adequate amounts of water in streams year-round is critical for maintaining and improving the long-term health of fish populations,” said Del Lobb, instream flow biologist with Game and Fish.

Game and Fish conducted instream flow investigations on the five creeks in 2015 to determine flows needed to maintain the existing Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout populations. The proposed water rights would protect flows in a total of 20 miles of the streams. Information about the proposed instream flow segments can be viewed on the Game and Fish website.

All five stream segments are within the Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout’s native range.

“Securing the water rights means the streams will continue to flow naturally and provide critical habitat for spawning, passage and year-round survival of this species,” Lobb said.

Habitat changes and non-native species have restricted Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout to about 25% of its native range in Wyoming.

“Protecting streamflows in these headwater streams will help conserve the remaining Wyoming populations of this species,” Lobb said.

Securing instream flow water rights has benefits for anglers and Wyoming, too.

“Instream flows benefit the 48% of Wyoming residents who fish. They also help Wyoming’s tourism industry, which in large part depends on flowing streams that provide angling and boating opportunities and enhance sight-seeing, hiking, hunting and camping,” Lobb said.

Game and Fish prepared five applications for the instream flow water rights. The Wyoming Water Development Commission, the official applicant for the State, submitted the applications to the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office and conducted a hydrologic feasibility study funded by Game and Fish. Information about the applications can be viewed online.

The State Engineer’s Office is holding a virtual public hearing on 9 a.m. June 9 to share information and receive comments on the proposed water rights. It will be recorded and made available for anyone who is unable to attend. The public hearing is a benchmark in a multi-step process to acquire instream flow water rights. That process is detailed on the Game and Fish website.

For any questions about how to participate in the virtual public hearing, details of the applications or the subsequent meeting recording, please contact Jason Feltner at 307-777-8789 or jason.feltner@wyo.gov.

If the water rights are approved by the State Engineer following the public hearing, these five stream segments will add to the 123 instream flow segments already secured for fish in Wyoming. Currently 512 miles — of the more than 25,000 miles of streams with fisheries in Wyoming — have instream flow water rights for sport fisheries and native fish conservation.

WHINO Opens in Ballston Quarter Bringing A Unique Experience of Restaurant & Art Gallery to Arlington
WHINO Opens in Ballston Quarter Bringing A Unique Experience of Restaurant & Art Gallery to Arlington

Whino interior painting

ARLINGTON, VA, UNITED STATES, June 1, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Shane Pomajambo is pleased to announce the June 18, 2021, opening of WHINO, a 6,200-square-foot restaurant, combined with an art gallery on the second floor of the new Ballston Quarter at 4238 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, Virginia. This modern open concept venue invites patron to inhabit large-scale mural installations while enjoying craft cocktails, beer, wine and globally inspired social plates. WHINO will sport exposed black steel high ceilings, creating a loft like experience. The combination of design elements will provide a fun and refined destination for socializing and dining.Photos: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8nj8mbsb83jdz4f/AADntkiylYEsCI3fat9DEn14a?dl=0

Pomajambo’s firm, Moderne Design Inc. of Great Falls, Virginia created the expansive restaurant/gallery’s dynamic interior. Guests will enjoy WHINO’s open floor plan housing six unique areas, including a 25-seat open kitchen bar; 51-foot craft cocktail bar and a beverage tasting bar which can accommodate 11 guests for tastings. To allow the space to flow openly yet be clearly defined, artists were chosen to create full immersion murals. The works of art give each area its own distinctive character and invite diners to become part of the scene.

Having earned a Master of Architecture degree, while also curating lowbrow/pop surrealist art and nationwide mural installations, former New Yorker Pomajambo enjoys a large following for his popular art gallery, Art Whino. For 15 years, Art Whino has been an active member of the Washington, D.C. art scene. Pomajambo has produced large-scale events at Art Basel in Miami, New York’s Comic Con, as well as the Richmond Mural Project, Austin Art Show, Heineken Mural Project in Atlanta, and G40 Art Summit. Art Whino is now transitioning to WHINO, combining Pomajambo’s passion for art with his appreciation for entertaining around exception food and drink.

On January 2019, Shane Pomajambo tapped Eleftherios (Terry) Natas as executive chef of WHINO in Ballston Quarter. Chef Natas is a New Jersey born Greek American, with over 25 years of culinary experience. His culinary background includes hotel and casino restaurants in the Bahamas and Atlantic City, as well as a more recent position with Richard Sandoval Hospitality’s El Centro D.F. Here he served as the regional chef for Sandoval’s concept, conducting research and development for El Centro’s menu. Natas also worked for Alicart restaurant group in New York at both Carmine’s and Virgil’s BBQ, and at Mike Isabella Restaurant, Graffiato, in Washington, D.C.

The sharable small plates concept developed for WHINO reinforces the social environment of a restaurant/gallery concept. WHINO’s opening menu focuses on a mix of modern dishes that meld American and international flavors and ingredients. The restaurant’s seasonal, globally driven menu spotlights distinctive dishes that vary with items such as Smoked Octopus with harissa chickpea purée, smoked salt; Prime Dry Aged Beef, with polenta fries, charred endive, and salsa verde; Handmade Ricotta Gnocchi with seasonal vegetables, saffron vegetable brodo, grana Padano, toasted hazelnuts, and Scallop Aguachile, Cape May day boat scallops, tomatillo salsa, serrano, cucumber, black radish, finger lime, and micro cilantro.

Natas also plays on the classics with his homemade “Gyro,” a house-blend beef & lamb, Greek spices, whipped feta & leek yogurt, tomato & cucumber relish, pickled red onion, wrapped in his mother’s famous phyllo called Telly’s Gyro, from the nickname his mother and sisters bestowed upon him. His Porchetta Sliders with fennel & rosemary rubbed pork loin wrapped in crispy skin pork belly, shaved fennel & orange slaw, grilled ciabatta, with Shane’s “secret sauce,” developed by WHINO owner, Shane Pomajambo at his epic barbecues, is certain to be a crowd favorite.

“The menu is designed to encourage exploration as small plates afford guests the opportunity to experience more flavor profiles,” states owner, Shane Pomajambo. “In the coming months, we also plan to offer curated beverage tasting events, monthly art shows and collectible art releases, with items available for purchase at WHINO. To keep things fresh, exhibits will change monthly, and the large murals will rotate, as they will be painted over yearly.”

WHINO’s mural installations focus on a new art movement commonly referred to as lowbrow/pop surrealist art, encompassing over 12 genres. From muralism, street art, illustration art and fine art, there is something for everyone to experience. Although it spans a multiple of disciplines, the collections share the theme of pop culture or a reaction to the current vibe better known by the name pop surrealism. The movement arose in the Los Angeles, California area in the mid 90’s from the skate culture with references to underground comix, punk music, and hot-rod cultures of the street. Naomi Osaka: Highlight on media, authorities & participant after French Open withdrawal
Naomi Osaka: Highlight on media, authorities & participant after French Open withdrawal

Naomi Osaka has won four Grand Slam titles

When Naomi Osaka won the US Open in 2018, she pulled down her visor to hide her tears.

It was her maiden Grand Slam title, she had beaten the great Serena Williams to win it, and she had a bright future ahead.

Except that the victory had come in unusual and traumatic fashion, with boos and controversy surrounding Williams’ infamous outburst at the umpire.

And we now know that this title also marked the start of the “long bouts of depression” that have led to Osaka pulling out of the French Open in a move that has sent shockwaves through the sport and raised the prospect of some soul-searching for the authorities and media.

Roland Garros is now without one of the sport’s biggest stars, and despite Osaka’s desire to not “be a distraction” she and the issues she raises are firmly in the spotlight.

Did the authorities handle things well?

Osaka obtained a variety of help from fellow gamers and athletes over her resolution to boycott information conferences at Roland Garros.

And there was criticism of the game’s governing our bodies’ strongly-worded assertion on Sunday, which threatened her with expulsion from the French Open and future Grand Slams over what she stated was a call primarily based on wanting to guard her psychological well being.

American basketball participant Stephen Curry was essential, saying the “powers that be don’t protect their own”, whereas former British primary Laura Robson additionally questioned whether or not the matter may have been handled in another way.

“I’m sure a lot of people are disappointed with how the statement was handled yesterday from the Grand Slams and how strong it was,” Robson stated on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Maybe if they had not let it escalate to this point then we wouldn’t be here.”

In a press release after Osaka’s withdrawal French Tennis Federation president Gilles Moretton stated main tennis our bodies had been dedicated to athletes’ wellbeing and enhancing their event expertise, together with their interplay with the media.

Osaka stated “the rules are quite outdated in parts” and she or he needs to debate with the Tour methods of creating issues higher.

“Being the hunted is a nice position to be in” Interview with the Porsche Brand Ambassador Paul Casey ahead of the Porsche European Open

Stuttgart . Paul Casey is travelling to Hamburg for the Porsche European Open as the title holder. For the first time in just over a year, the Englishman, who in the meantime lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, will step back onto European soil. In an interview with the Porsche Newsroom, the three-time Ryder Cup champion speaks of the lessons he has learned from the challenging times, the reasons behind his very successful year on the Tour, his pleasure at being able to tee off again in front of spectators – and the mission to defend his title at the Porsche European Open, which will be played on the Porsche Nord Course near to Hamburg from 5 to 7 June.

Paul, after winning the 2019 Porsche European Open, you always spoke of it as being a special victory. Why? “History plays a huge role in our sport. And this tournament has an incredible history. It’s one of the big events on the European Tour and the European Open’s roll of honour includes golf’s who’s who. Every player on every tour dearly wants to win all the tournaments his heroes won. As a kid at the start of the 1990s, I carried a scoreboard around at the European Open in England when it was played in Walton Heath. They are memories that remain etched in your memory.”

What is more difficult, winning a title or defending it? “Defending them is a whole lot of fun, but it has never really worked out up until now. I managed it as an amateur, but only once as a pro. Interestingly, I’m under less pressure as the title holder because I don’t have to prove anything anymore. Being the hunted is a good position to be in. The only thing that’s frustrating is when you narrowly miss out on winning. It’s something that no longer comes into the equation at the Porsche European Open, which means I’m really looking forward to defending the title.”

Your year has been pretty successful up until now. Victory in Dubai, top placings at the majors and in a number of other tournaments. Where does the consistency come from? “My bag has contained a new driver since the start of the year. I’m now teeing off better than I’ve done in the last ten years. It’s not about length, it’s far more about control. I know 100 per cent that golf balls don’t do any strange things I can’t explain. It gives me a lot of confidence. And confidence leads to a secure swing, a snowball effect.”

When placing fourth at the PGA Championship, you watched Phil Mickelson’s win from close up. What lessons have you learned from the year’s second major? “For me at the age of 43, Phil Mickelson at over 50 really is an inspiration. As for Phil, I think two things have been important. He has remained injury-free. And he has retained his passion for the sport. He is playing at the same level as he was ten, 20 years ago, and appears to be as fit as ever. His continuing motivation is impressive.”

How does one conserve the passion for the sport over decades? “For me it’s important to have other passions. If golf is everything, then you get burned out quickly. At the same time, your other passions should not take up too much of your time. It’s about finding a balance, and everybody is different. But I’ve got many other things that give me lots of fun, starting with sports cars. It helps when you suffer setbacks.”

Setbacks are the focus of this year’s campaign that you have initiated with Porsche. “We looked into the difficulties people sometimes have when they try to move forwards, especially in the past one-and-a-half years. It goes back to motivation, to problems and crises that we all know. In sport we often concentrate on being successful. One sees the cups, the celebrations. But I spend 99 per cent of my time not trying to hit the perfect shot, not to winning. There are so many doubts, injuries, disappointments, wrong decisions. The message is: you can grow with the challenge. Hit the next shot. It’s about staying power.”

Does the search for perfection ever come to an end? “No, there are always things that can be improved, especially when it comes to the golf swing. It’s all about one per cent here and there. There are important minute details. We’re all perfectionists in a sport one will never be able to master perfectly. But we try to perfect the thing we can’t perfect.”

To what extent has you approach been affected by the past challenging months? “We’re all learning momentarily just how important friendships are, social contacts and experiencing things together. It’s also why I’m looking forward to Hamburg. I haven’t seen many of the boys on the European Tour for a long time now. At the same time, it is nice to see how many supporters like sponsors or organisers there are that believe in the game of golf and that have made it possible for us to also play golf tournaments in these times. Perhaps it is down to golf embodying much of what is important to people in general – honesty, discipline and fairness. Just how difficult the situation is at the moment is something we can see with the Porsche European Open, which was cancelled last year and has had to be postponed this time around. It’s another reason why I‘d like to fully support the tournament and its stakeholders.”

What have you missed on the Tour in the past months? “Eating with a knife and fork from a plate. All the food really was packed on the Tour, for good reason. But much more important, spectators. At the PGA Championship, I felt the energy that the fans exude for the first time. It was intoxicating. And now we also have fans back at the venue in Hamburg. I can hardly wait. Golf with spectators is a completely different kettle of fish. Something that‘s unfortunately not going to work out is that I can drive from London to Hamburg with a Porsche before the tournament due to the current regulations.

It was something you had planned on doing? “Yes, it would have been cool, don’t you think? It means I now have to go the long way around when travelling from the golf club to the hotel and back to get to see the surrounding countryside a bit and drive some beautiful roads. Best of all in the Leader’s Car. It was a great idea in 2019 and people were waving to me the whole time. Especially as “Leader” was written in big letters on the side. A quite special feeling. Or I win the hole-in-one vehicle, the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo. The car is perfect for golfers what with all its space. I love Porsche’s GT models. But it’s also a cool car. My everyday vehicle is a Cayenne Coupé. But I can well imagine that I’ll swap it for the Cross Turismo. If you can only have one car, then it’s perfect.”

You’ve been a Porsche Brand Ambassador since September 2020. How well have you been received by the Porsche family? “It really is an honour. I gain a lot from the partnership because I’m so motorsport crazy myself. And if I am going to be authentic when advocating something, then it has to be something I also want to do. It’s why I’m so happy with everything we’ve done together – campaigns, podcasts, events. I want to fulfil my ambassador role to the full and I’m free to do it – it’s fantastic. And I’m getting to know many wonderful people with whom I can talk motorsport. It’s incredibly inspiring.”

Porsche in golf Porsche has been the title sponsor of the Porsche European Open, a European Tour event, since 2015 and has been involved successfully in professional golf with automotive partnerships at three tournaments on the Asian and European Tour since 2019. Last year the sports car manufacturer additionally supported the UK Swing with the European Tour’s “Golf for Good” initiative. Porsche has also been organising the Porsche Golf Cup for more than three decades. The tournament series is one of the company’s most successful customer events. Held in Germany for the first time in 1988, the Porsche Golf Cup has developed into an international event at which recently over 17,000 Porsche customers competed in 261 qualifying tournaments worldwide. Also highly successful is the Porsche Golf Circle, an international and app-based community for keen golf-playing Porsche customers that was launched in 2017.

Brand Ambassador as a part of the Porsche family As the first ambassador from the world of golf, Casey complements the Porsche family. In tennis, it includes the exceptional Maria Sharapova as well as the top two current German players Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges. Also from the world of sport, the football World Cup winner Sami Khedira is active as the ambassador for the Porsche junior development programme. Others representing the sports car manufacturer’s company and product communication are the German rally legend Walter Röhrl, the Australian Endurance World Champion Mark Webber, the two-time Norwegian Olympic Champion Aksel Lund Svindal as well as the actor Richy Müller. Two former Porsche works drivers have also joined the circle of Brand Ambassadors – GT specialist and development driver Jörg Bergmeister as well as the two-time Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard.

French Open 2021 preview: Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Williams, Osaka, Swiatek play in Paris

Dates: 30 May-13 June Venue: Roland Garros, Paris

After switching to an unfamiliar October slot in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, the French Open returns to the late Parisian spring this year.

Little was familiar about the tournament last year – other than Rafael Nadal winning the men’s singles for a record-extending 13th time.

The Spaniard is the favorite to defend his crown once again when the tournament begins on Sunday, although Serbia’s world number one Novak Djokovic will expect to provide the toughest challenge at Roland Garros.

Nadal is aiming to win a record 21st men’s major title and move clear of Switzerland’s Roger Federer, who returns after missing last year’s tournament through injury.

David Osborne Austin – growing your network

David Osborne Austin recently discussed how to grow your network as a professional who represents athletes.

Digital networking is a major force right now, and a successful representative knows this”
— David Osborne of Austin

AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA, May 29, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — David Osborne Austin is an expert financial advisor with expertise in aiding professional athletes. He has spoken on numerous topics regarding pro athletes, including the best ways to manage money, the challenges of celebrity, and growing your wealth beyond your career. Osborne recently discussed how to grow a larger network when you’re representing professional athletes.Financial experts like David Osborne Austin will tell you that your network is directly correlated with your net worth. Your wealth will rise as your network rises. However, many professional athletes have reached success because they focus on one thing — their sport. They may not feel they have the time or expertise to grow their network.

“Athletes don’t always have the extra time needed to focus on networking, so they hire people to represent them,” David Osborne said. “A representative must work as an advocate for the athlete, improving their personal branding and putting pro athletes where other successful people are.”

David Osborne Austin explained the importance of “networking up.” It’s important to attend events where your idols, mentors, and other successful people are. It doesn’t matter if the event is professional or for entertainment, these arenas offer opportunities to connect with those who are already where you want to be. Business meetings, seminars, conferences, parties, and webinars can be excellent places to network with your idols and like-minded peers.

Similarly, Osborne emphasized the importance of networking in the right places. Professional athletes should focus on networking in the fields of sports and entertainment. Focusing networking efforts in areas unrelated to the profession can be a major waste of time and start your networking moving in the wrong direction.

“Digital networking is a major force right now, and a successful representative knows this,” David Osborne Austin said. “Improving your social media presence will also broaden your network.”

Osborne explained that social media allows athletes to advertise themselves while broadening their networks. Right now, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn are viewed as ideal social media advertising networks for athletes. Connecting with one person can lead to numerous other connections in a manner that is quick and cost-effective. These can also be excellent places to spread information about your personal achievements and skills.

“Professional athletes absolutely must network, whether they’re in need of new connections right now or not,” David Osborne Austin said. “This is a process that requires a lot of time and effort. An excellent representative will constantly be working to prepare a solid network before you truly need it.”

June fish stocking schedule for the Clearwater Region
June fish stocking schedule for the Clearwater Region
Fish and Game staff will be stocking nearly 40,000 catchable-size (10 to 12 inch) trout at the following locations across the Clearwater Region in June. All stocked fish are rainbow trout unless otherwise specified in the comments section.Time to grab your fishing rod and enjoy the summer sun!

Stocking of all waters is tentative and dependent on river/lake/pond conditions; dates may change due to weather or staffing constraints.

For maps of these fishing locations and other angling destinations in Idaho please visit the Idaho Fish Planner.

Many of the waters highlighted are easy to access, family-friendly fishing destinations. All you need to get started is a fishing license and some basic tackle. Annual adult fishing licenses cost around $30, junior licenses (ages 14-17) cost $16, and youth under 14 fish for free. Click here to buy a license.

Fishing for stocked rainbow trout, particularly in community ponds, is a great way to introduce new anglers to the sport by using simple (and relatively thrifty) set-ups like worm/marshmallow combinations or commercial baits like Power Bait or Crave, either near the bottom or below a bobber. The Learn to Fish webpage offers diagrams for basic bait rigs.

Most Idaho waters are open to fishing year-round, but some may have slightly different rules. Be sure to pick up a 2019-21 Idaho Fishing Seasons and Rules Booklet, which outlines season dates, special regulations and bag limits at any Idaho Fish and Game offices or most sporting goods stores statewide.

Need a little help reading Idaho’s fishing regulations? Click the video below to learn how to use the fishing season and rules book.
