Younger athletes are at greater risk of atrial fibrillation than older athletes, say researchers.
Athletes may have more than twice the risk of irregular heart rhythm
Younger athletes are at greater risk of atrial fibrillation than older athletes, say researchers
Athletes appear to be almost two and half times more likely than non-athletes to experience irregular heart rhythms (atrial fibrillation), suggests new research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
In addition, those athletes involved in mixed sports such as football, rugby, or netball appear to have the highest risk when compared with athletes taking part in endurance sports such as Nordic skiing, orienteering, or rowing.
Previous studies have shown that physical activity can improve cardiovascular health and is associated with reduced illness and deaths, but they have suggested there is a threshold beyond which exposure to increasing levels of exercise is linked to heart issues including atrial fibrillation – a condition that can raise the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related problems.
UK researchers led by Canterbury Christ Church University in Canterbury set out to review existing studies on the subject and explore what impact the type of sport in which athletes took part had on their risk of atrial fibrillation to reach a more conclusive picture of overall prevalence among athletes.
They reviewed and analyzed 13 suitable studies that were published between 1990 and December 2020 which had looked at athletes who took part in sports including cycling, running, swimming, Nordic skiing, orienteering, rowing, football, rugby, and netball.
The 13 studies included data on 70,478 participants, collectively, which included 63,662 controls and 6,816 athletes.
The authors found that the risk of atrial fibrillation was 2.46 times higher among athletes than non-athletes.
When the authors split the studies into those that involved participants with and without cardiovascular disease risk factors (such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure), they found there was no significant difference in the relative risk of atrial fibrillation in athletes and non-athletes with these risk factors.
However, in athletes and non-athletes without cardiovascular disease risk factors athletes had a significantly higher relative risk (3.7 times higher) of atrial fibrillation than non-athletes.
In addition, younger athletes (aged under 55) had a much higher risk (3.6 times) of atrial fibrillation than older athletes (aged 55 and older) who were 76% more likely to have the condition than non-athletes.
Analysis also showed that athletes taking part in mixed sports rather than endurance sports had a higher risk of atrial fibrillation.
Their study had some limitations such as the fact that it analyzed research with different approaches such as case control and cohort design, and there was limited data on female athletes, making it difficult to look at the relative risk of atrial fibrillation by gender.
Nevertheless, the researchers conclude: “Athletes have a significantly greater likelihood of developing atrial fibrillation compared with non-athlete controls.
“Younger aged athletes have a greater relative risk of atrial fibrillation compared with older athletes; however, exercise dose parameters, including training and competition history, as well as potential gender differences for the risk of atrial fibrillation requires future research.”

Lucy, an Ewings Sarcoma survivor teams up with “Lucy,” the Porsche, in a winning partnership between a nonprofit and the racing community at prestigious race.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, USA, July 3, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Sunday, the eyes of the automotive racing community were on Pikes Peak for the 99th running of the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. The uphill race, known as “The Race to the Clouds” is regarded as one of the most famous and arduous racing events in the world. One of the most buzzed-about cars leading into the event was BBi Autosport’s Porsche GT3 Turbo Cup, nicknamed Lucy. Having set a new course record in 2019, the expectations for “Lucy” were sky-high.
When BBi heard about 10-year-old Lucy Spada of Brookfield, and her battle with Ewing Sarcoma, they wanted to get involved with the cause. They dedicated their “Lucy” and two other Porsches to bring attention to an organization that’s in hot pursuit of better treatment options, the Little Warrior Foundation. The team placed the Little Warrior Foundation in prominent spots on the car spoiler and used their spotlight to raise awareness.
“We need to accelerate medical breakthroughs for these kids. There’s hope on the horizon, but these kids can’t wait,” said Emily McFadden, one of the co-founders of Little Warrior Foundation. “When you need things to go faster, BBi Autosport is a perfect partner.”
Lucy attended the race, along with her siblings and the foundation’s co-founders — her parents and godmother. In the days leading up to the event, Lucy served as much needed inspiration and perspective for the BBi Team.
“It was a tough week leading up to the race. We had a lot of mechanical issues, weather issues and obstacles in our path,” said Dmitiry Orlov BBi’s COO. “But that’s nothing compared to what these families go through. Lucy gave us great perspective and motivated us to keep pushing on.”
Despite snowy conditions and a shortened course, Lucy the Porsche took first place in the Open Division. BBi’s GT4 Club Sport, piloted by Tanner Foust also won in its division. BBi’s third Porshce, a GT2 RS, took third place in the highly competitive Time Attack Division.
When the driver Raphael Astier of France descended the mountain, he was greeted by a triumphant team and huge hug from Lucy. As a trophy of her own, the BBi Team gave Lucy an autographed endplate form the wing to take home.
“It’s so cool that they won this race and then turned to clap for me!” said Lucy.
ABOUT THE LITTLE WARRIOR FOUNDATION: The Little Warrior Foundation was founded in April 2020 following 9 yr old Lucy’s diagnosis of Ewing Sarcoma. After a year in treatment, 14 cycles of chemotherapy and 48 rounds of radiation, Lucy is a thriving 5th grader in remission. The Little Warrior Foundation has a mission to fund and find a lasting cure for pediatric cancer, with a specific focus on Ewing Sarcoma. They are focused on less-toxic therapies, such as immunotherapy, mRNA vaccines, and molecular targeting. To date, they have raised and granted over $500,000. www.littlewarrior.org

Olympique de Marseille is one of the most renowned football clubs in the world. Founded in 1899, the club has won 30 major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League title in 1993. It is widely regarded as the most popular team in France, with the most passionate fans and the largest attendances in the country.
The links between Olympique de Marseille and Africa have always been very strong, with the city of Marseille itself heavily influenced by diverse African cultures. African football legends to have played for Marseille include Abedi Pelé, Didier Drogba and Mamadou Niang, and the club has proved to be a gateway to the international stage for dozens more African players.
Support for the club is huge all over North and West Africa, where it is an instantly-recognisable, iconic brand. OM has ten dedicated fan-clubs operating in Africa, and more than four million African followers on social media, making up 38.7% of the club’s global fanbase.
To build on its proud African heritage, Olympique de Marseille has created OM Africa, a football development programme entirely dedicated to its millions of fans from the African continent. The club has established a football academy in Diambars, Senegal, while three OM Africa schools have been set up in Algiers (Algeria), Tunis (Tunisia) and Port-Harcourt (Nigeria). At these state-of-the-art facilities, local youths are taught the beautiful game by some of the best international coaches, and dream of being the next African superstar to play at the highest level.
OM Africa also coordinates regular initiatives designed to raise awareness of the game in Africa, including charity events, exclusive content and prizes for Olympique de Marseille fans, and ‘Legends’ matches.
APO Group sees sport as a valuable opportunity for promoting education, peace, violence prevention, gender equality, and health in Africa.

APO Group is also a strategic African partner of Getty Images, the most recognizable name in sporting imagery, and works closely with the NBA, and the Basketball Africa League.
Together, APO Group and Olympique de Marseille are committed to helping promote football in Africa, providing new opportunities for young players, and showcasing positive African stories on the international stage.

APO Group share our vision for OM Africa to be a beacon for all African football fans, and a way of supporting sporting development across the continent.”
“Olympique de Marseille is one of the most successful and enduring sporting organizations in the world,” said APO Group Founder and Chairman, Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard. “No other major European football club dedicates as much time, energy and resource to Africa. The OM Africa programme is a fantastic initiative, and it shows the unique power of sport in uniting people from different countries and cultures. We are thrilled at the prospect of being able to support Olympique de Marseille and their millions of African fans.”

FIFA (www.FIFA.com) President explained key steps to shape the future of football; Topics included the ongoing consultation process on the international match calendar, transparent bidding processes and the growth of women’s football; Gianni Infantino virtually attended the EFE Sport Business Forum.
On Wednesday 30 June, FIFA President Gianni Infantino was a special guest of the second edition of the EFE Sport Business Forum, broadcast from Madrid. In an interview spanning almost an hour, the President discussed a myriad of topics. The following is an abridged version of the full interview.
Watching football games these last few days, football is back at the top of the entertainment industry, isn’t it?
Yes, definitely. I believe football is bringing us a lot of excitement these days, with the [UEFA] EURO and the [CONMEBOL] Copa América. The [CONCACAF] Gold Cup will also take place soon. Because of the pandemic there was a moment in which, football stopped all around the world. This hadn’t happened since the war and it was very tough for everyone.
There are many people who have suffered and who are still suffering, but the fact that football is back, although the stadiums are not full yet, gives us the feeling that we are going back to normality.
What kind of new things are to be introduced related to the global transfer market. What will be the role of the clearing house that FIFA wants to create?
If we think of last year before COVID-19, $7billion was spent in the international transfer market. Of that figure, $700 million went directly to agents and only $70 million went to the clubs that trained and developed the players.
Our principle is to reform the transfer market because we don’t think that it’s positive to have such a huge flow of money with almost no rules. A clearing house will ensure that clubs training players will be able to receive the money they are owed, because there is a solidarity mechanism which establishes that 5% of the transfer must be paid to the clubs that provided the training. This is already in our rules. But the truth is that only $60 or $70 million is paid out.
Why? Because these clubs are small clubs who don’t have the means, who don’t know they can receive this money. Who don’t have enough time to ask for it or can’t pay lawyers to go to court. So we want to automate all this to ensure the process is completely transparent.
FIFPro have requested a fairer and more reasonable football calendar. Are so many competitions really needed? What is the situation right now regarding the 24-team FIFA Club World Cup project?
I am convinced this is the opinion of the vast majority of football associations, leagues, clubs, fans, players around the world: we want football to be healthier, less discriminatory and more competitive. To achieve this, we have to look at the entire international schedule. We have asked Arsène Wenger, whose football expertise and professionalism no one would deny, to take charge of this process.
In this consultation process we have undertaken, we started with the key stakeholders. With players, and managers, to get to know their opinions and how they want football to be run in the coming years.
What do they think about the Club World Cup? The World Cup, the EURO, the [CONMEBOL] Copa América, about the [CAF] Africa Cup [of Nations], the [AFC] Asian Cup? What are their thoughts on clubs? What do they think of traveling in September, October, November, March from one continent to another? What are their opinions about playing two matches and going back or playing four games with their clubs and then playing again with their national teams? All of these issues are very important, and we also want to hear the fans’ thoughts on them.
Our goal, is to globalise football. We might ask ourselves whether football is global or not. Of course, football is the number one sport in the world, and football is perhaps global in regards to passion, emotion and the heart, but it is absolutely not global in regards to opportunities to play, the opportunities to compete, the chances that players have to play at their best in an important tournament.
My ambition, my dream, our idea, our philosophy, is to have maybe around 50 clubs from every continent being able to win a Club World Cup, and to have around 50 countries, 50 national teams from every continent being able to win a World Cup. If we manage to do this, I think football will be in great shape.
Let’s talk about women’s football. What steps are you taking in the short or medium term to expand, in this field?
Women’s football is the sport out of all sports that’s going to see the biggest growth in the next ten years. I don’t know where I will be in ten years, but we’ll talk again, we’ll check the figures, and we’ll compare women’s football growth with any other women’s or men’s sport, and we’ll see the numbers.
I’m not just talking about revenues, but general figures. The last [FIFA] Women’s World Cup, that took place in France and was such a huge success, was seen by 1.2 billion people around the world. 1.2 billion. More than one million people in the stands. For the final alone, we had 263 million viewers.
It’s a sport we have to develop across the world. That’s why, we at FIFA have decided to invest $1bn to develop women’s football, for example, in projects all around the world, so that girls can more easily access football in every country in the world.
I remember the last [FIFA] U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay. Mexico and Spain contested the final, and they aren’t countries you’d historically associate with the development of women’s football. So, we have to keep on developing more. And also, for women’s football, we hold the same consultation as we do for men’s football in terms of the international calendar.
Let’s talk about the World Cup 2030. There are several candidates. How do you view our Spain-Portugal bid?
After the FIFA reforms, the FIFA president doesn’t even have a vote when it comes to this because it’s the 211 countries who will vote. As president of FIFA, it’s important to note that once more there is a renewed interest from a lot of countries around the world in becoming candidates. What does that mean? That means people have faith in the FIFA process. That may not always have been the case but it is now because we have already held votes, for example for the [FIFA] World Cup 2026 two years ago, in an open, transparent, and public process.
There are experts observing the process, it all gets audited, and the votes are public and transparent. So, what we can guarantee Spain and Portugal, what we can guarantee every country that wants to host the next World Cup, after 2026 in North America, is that the process will have total integrity and total transparency. The more candidates there are, the better it is for the president of FIFA, or for FIFA. May the best one win!
We’re in 2021 now. Could you briefly explain what the next two years of FIFA will look like?
Our vision is to make football truly global. If we grow, we can all grow. In order for football to grow around the world, we cannot discriminate against anyone.
Football cannot be reserved for the few; it has to be open for everyone. And even the big stakeholders will benefit from football being open for everyone.
I believe that the gap between the big and the small is becoming increasingly wide. Our job must be to globalise football, starting with young people in the youth World Cups in development, to give every talent in the world a chance, and every boy and girl the chance to dream.
This is the 2023 vision: to make football truly global. We have to be devoted, very open to ideas. We have to be brave also, because some people might be scared of change. But, I think that we have to go with conviction, positivity; it is necessary to include the world and make football even more – much more – global than it is. A huge blunder was made by the Dutch television NPO during the performance of the anthem of Germany before the 1/8 finals of the European Football Championship against England at Wembley. The Nazi version of the musical symbol of the German state was broadcast on teletext, which broadcasts subtitles for people with hearing impairments. The media was quick to apologize on Twitter for the release of the text of “Germany above all”.
“During the live broadcast of the England-Germany match, a wrong version of the German anthem was shown due to oversight. The mistake is our employee. We apologize to the viewers who have been affected by this,” the statement said.

New sporting hero from Porsche: the Cayenne Turbo GT High-performance SUV with 471 kW (640 PS) and racetrack set-up
Stuttgart . Porsche rounds off the Cayenne model range with a sporting hero: consistently set up for maximum performance and handling, the new Cayenne Turbo GT combines outstanding driving dynamics with a high degree of everyday usability. Its 471 kW (640 PS) four-litre biturbo V8 provides the basis for superb driving characteristics. With 67 kW (90 PS) more than the Cayenne Turbo Coupé and maximum torque of 850 Nm (an increase of 80 Nm), the 0-100 km/h sprint is reduced to 3.3 seconds (0.6 s less) and top speed is now 300 km/h (an increase of 14 km/h). With even sportier lines and available exclusively as a four-seater Coupé, the Cayenne Turbo GT comes with all available chassis systems fitted as standard and performance tyres developed specially for this model. The powertrain and chassis also have a unique set-up specifically tuned for the Cayenne Turbo GT. The result is a harmonious overall concept with superb racetrack capability. This has been proven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern, who lapped the 20.832 km Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Cayenne Turbo GT in a time of 7:38.9 minutes, setting a new official SUV record.
Compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the Turbo GT rides up to 17 millimetres lower. Based on this, both the passive chassis components and active control systems have been re-engineered and optimised for handling and performance. They also feature specific calibration to guarantee perfect interaction between them. As an example, the rigidity of the three-chamber air suspension has been increased by up to 15 per cent, and the damper characteristics of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as well as the application of the Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering have also been adapted. The Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilisation system now operates with performance-oriented control software. The result is even better roll stability and roadholding, as well as more precise turn-in behaviour at higher cornering speeds. In line with this, the Porsche Torque Vectoring system allows higher torque bias ratios. The comprehensively optimised front axle also improves handling. Compared to the Turbo Coupé, its front wheels are an inch wider and negative camber has been increased by 0.45 degrees to give the new 22-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tyres, specially developed for the Turbo GT, a larger contact patch. Braking duties are performed by the standard-fit Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system.
Quicker-shifting Tiptronic S and titanium sports exhaust system The Cayenne Turbo GT’s biturbo engine is currently Porsche’s most powerful eight-cylinder unit. The most extensive upgrades were carried out in the areas of the crankshaft drive, turbocharger, direct fuel injection, induction system and intercooler. The V8 of the Turbo GT differs from that of the Turbo Coupé in fundamental elements such as its crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, timing chain drive and torsional vibration dampers. Given the increase in power to 471 kW (640 PS), these components have been designed for higher peak loads and improved driving dynamics. The faster-shifting eight-speed Tiptronic S and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system have also been modified. There is also additional water cooling for the transfer case. The standard sports exhaust system, with its central tailpipes, is unique to the Cayenne Turbo GT. From the middle of the vehicle, the exhaust system, including the rear silencer, is made from lightweight and particularly heat-resistant titanium. An additional weight saving is achieved through the omission of the centre silencer.
Sporty equipment: lots of carbon on the exterior, lots of Alcantara in the interior Optionally available with paintwork in the new Arctic Grey colour, the Cayenne Turbo GT underlines its exceptional athleticism through the outstanding features of its progressive design. These include a GT-specific front apron with striking spoiler lip and enlarged side cooling air intakes, which create a unique front view. A contoured carbon roof and black wheel arch extensions, together with 22-inch GT Design wheels in Neodyme, dominate its side view. The carbon side plates fitted lengthwise to the roof spoiler are GT-specific, as is the adaptively extendable rear spoiler’s lip, which is 25 mm larger than that fitted to the Turbo. This increases downforce at the car’s top speed by up to 40 kilograms. The rear view is rounded off by a striking diffuser panel made of carbon.
Debut in the Turbo GT: new infotainment system for the Cayenne The sporty character of the Cayenne Turbo GT is highlighted by the high-quality standard equipment and extended Alcantara features of its interior. Eight-way sport seats in the front and a sport rear seat system with two seats are standard. They each come GT-specific with perforated seat centre panels in Alcantara, contrast accents in Neodyme or Arctic Grey and ‘turbo GT’ lettering on their headrests. As is expected on Porsche’s sports cars, the multifunction sports steering wheel features a yellow 12 o’clock marking. Depending on the specified trim, select accent strips are finished in matt Black.
With the Turbo GT, the next-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system is launched onto the market with improved performance, a new user interface and new operating logic in the Cayenne. As before, PCM 6.0 is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay but now also allows for in-depth integration of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. In addition, the infotainment system now also includes Android Auto, which means that all popular smartphones can now be integrated.
The Cayenne Turbo GT is available to order now and will roll into dealerships in mid-September 2021. Prices in Germany start at 196,078 euros including VAT and country-specific equipment.
The consumption and CO2 emission values were determined in accordance with the new Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). The NEDC values derived from this should continue to be specified for the time being. These values cannot be compared to the values determined in accordance with the NEDC measuring procedure used up to now.
Further information on the official fuel consumption and official, specific CO2 emissions of new passenger cars is available in the publication entitled ‘Guidelines on fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new passenger cars’, which is available free of charge from all sales outlets and from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT).
Funding for 60 Boating Access, Navigation, and Safety Projects in 19 Counties

Governor Larry Hogan today announced $13.5 million in Waterway Improvement Fund grants for Fiscal Year 2022 to enhance and improve public boating access, facilities, and navigation throughout the state.
“Boating is not just an important part of our history and our culture, it is also an important part of Maryland’s economy,” said Governor Hogan. “The announcement of these new grants is yet another shining example that Maryland is open for business, open for summer, and open for boating.”
The funding will go toward 60 projects in 19 counties, including grants for statewide projects and emergency water rescue needs. Projects include new public boating access, amenities, and facilities; dredging of navigable waterways; emergency vessels and equipment for local first responders; and other important infrastructure and initiatives.
“We are pleased to demonstrate Maryland’s commitment to keeping our waters safe and accessible through these grant awards,” Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said. “The Waterway Improvement Fund is an essential program that benefits all waterway users.”
To streamline the grant application and management process, DNR has created theGrants Gatewayto provide a single entry point for grantees and assure access to funding for innovative, local projects. The gateway also provides DNR with an integrated grant-management system to monitor sources, manage data, and ensure grants are consistent with the department’s strategic priorities.
The Waterway Improvement Fund was created in 1966 to support the development, enjoyment, and use of Maryland’s waters for the benefit of the general boating and cruising public. It is primarily derived from a five-percent vessel excise tax on boat purchases and titling.

Concord, NH – To better serve the residents and visitors of New Hampshire, the Downing’s Landing public boat access facility in Alton, NH, will be closed to all public access starting on Thursday, July 22. During the closure, significant improvements will be made by the Department to the parking lot, shorebank protection, and stormwater management structures. This season’s closure is expected to last until late October and will curtail all access to the lake associated with the facility.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department purchased the former private marina at the southern tip of Alton Bay in November of 2012, creating the first public boat access facility on Lake Winnipesaukee. From July 22, and until further notice, the entire facility will be closed to the public to ensure a safe and effective work site. The ramp will be closed and there will be no opportunity to launch or retrieve motorized boats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, or other self-propelled watercraft during this time period. The parking area for the ramp will be closed to the public as well, and there will be no fishing from the shore.
Please check project status updates by visiting the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department’s Statewide Public Boat Access Program’s webpage at www.fishnh.com/access/index.html.
NH Fish and Game’s Statewide Public Boat Access Program is funded through boat registration fees, which are combined as match dollars with federal Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration funds to facilitate boat access opportunities in the state. Fish and Game’s Facilities Construction and Lands Division acquires land for public water access sites, refurbishes existing sites, and builds new public boat access areas.
Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking approximately 32,100 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout in July. All stocking dates and numbers of fish are approximate and may change without notice due to water or weather conditions.

Idaho Fish and Game hatchery staff stock rainbow trout for Idaho anglers.
Many of the waters highlighted below are easy to access, family-friendly fishing destinations. All you need to get started is a fishing license and some basic tackle. Annual adult fishing licenses cost around $30, junior licenses (ages 14-17) cost $16, and youth under 14 fish for free.Click here to buy a license.
Fishing for stocked rainbow trout, particularly in community ponds, is a great way to introduce new anglers to the sport by using simple (and relatively thrifty) set-ups like worm/marshmallow combinations or commercial baits like Power Bait or Crave, either near the bottom or below a bobber. The Learn to Fish webpage offers diagrams forbasic bait rigs.
Most Idaho waters are open to fishing year-round, but some may have slightly different rules. Be sure to pick up a2019-21 Idaho Fishing Seasons and Rules Booklet, which outlines season dates, special regulations and bag limits at any Idaho Fish and Game offices or most sporting goods stores statewide.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, June 28, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — United Futbol Academy Metro Atlanta, a top soccer club in the Southeast, was honored to host a soccer cleat donation drive on tryouts held on Thursday, June 3. Rocco Meyerhoff, a member of the UFA U16 boys team, conceptualized the drive that supported Upper 90, an organization that uses soccer to give back to the underprivileged in metro Atlanta as well as Honduras.“UFA’s mission is to serve the community, and this cleat drive gives us that opportunity along with supporting soccer players in an entirely different country,” said UFA Metro Atlanta Executive Director Jon Akin. “Soccer is a sport that should be accessible to everyone, and we are honored to do our small part and will continue collecting and donating gently used cleats throughout the year.”
Meyerhoff’s leadership in organizing the cleat drive has made him a role model for other UFA Metro players. After completing tryouts, brothers Nik and Ajay Blosfeld, who are in their second year with UFA, took the cleats off their feet as a donation to Upper 90. Players, parents, and coaches collectively donated almost 100 pairs of cleats throughout the tryouts.
UFA Metro Atlanta will continue to support Upper 90 and their community by accepting donations through the remainder of the year. For more information about UFA Metro Atlanta, please visit metro.unitedfa.org or follow @UFAMetroAtlanta on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Fish and Game staff will be stocking a total of 31,900 catchable-size (10 to 12 inch) trout at the following locations around the Upper Snake Region in July. All stocked fish are rainbow trout unless otherwise specified in the comments section.Time to grab your fishing rod and enjoy the summer sun!
Stocking of all waters is tentative and dependent on river/lake/pond conditions; dates may change due to weather or staffing constraints.
For maps of these fishing locations and other angling destinations in Idaho please visit the Idaho Fish Planner.
Many of the waters highlighted are easy to access, family-friendly fishing destinations. All you need to get started is a fishing license and some basic tackle. Annual adult fishing licenses cost around $30, junior licenses (ages 14-17) cost $16, and youth under 14 fish for free. Click here to buy a license.
The Learn to Fish webpage offers diagrams for basic bait rigs.
Most Idaho waters are open to fishing year-round, but some may have slightly different rules. Be sure to pick up a 2019-21 Idaho Fishing Seasons and Rules Booklet, which outlines season dates, special regulations and bag limits at any Idaho Fish and Game offices or most sporting goods stores statewide.

/EIN News/ — United States, Ohio, Mansfield, June 28, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — If you haven’t heard of a Onewheel yet, you’ve been living under a rock. Onewheel is exactly what it sounds like – a single wheel, self-balancing electric skateboard. This one-wheeled craft has been considered a sport and recreational hobby, and it has been there to cater to adventure junkies and sports enthusiasts since 2014.
The Onewheel community of sports enthusiasts and adventure junkies is known to be creative. They are always in search of ways how to fuel their thirst for adrenaline-filled activities. This holds true to their gears and equipment: they would always want an upgrade to elevate the experience.
Speaking of which, this was how FlightFins were born. Two brothers shared the same burning passion for Onewheel took the sport to the next level. The patented and revolutionary line of FlightFins products and accessories are elevating the Onewheel sport experience since 2017.
How FlightFins Started
FlightFins started off in 2017 when brothers Orie Rush and Michael Woolson created a prototype for a game-changing OneWheel accessory; a foot handle. With easy mounting and dismounting, FlightFins would allow riders to jump the OneWheel for the first time over curbs during urban rides and over various obstacles for trail rides.
Soon after they made the prototype, they launched their first crowdsourcing campaign to kickstart the production of their premiere product. Within 48hours, the Fins were fully funded, and their company was born. Since then, they have created multiple partnerships and OneWheel accessories to benefit the community.
You can fly high and perform cool tricks with FlightFins Lightweight, convertible, and practically roll-proof, FlightFins send it as hard as you do while maintaining an aerodynamic aesthetic and quiet ride. This feature makes it far easier to transition from rough to smooth terrains, and perform carving, nudging curbs or plate sliding like never before.
Here are the compelling reasons why you should get yourself FlightFins and invest in their customizable accessories for a whole new Onewheel experience.
Easy Control
The foot handle is definitely a game-changer because of its premier design, which allows users to mount and dismount with ease. You can lock your feet into position to stabilize and control the OneWheel and unlock when necessary, hassle-free.
Jump Any Obstacle: Experience Smoother Ride
Before, jumping with a Onewheel was just a dream. Thanks to FlightFins, it allows users to jump curbs and other obstacles that you would have to dismount to pass. This offers a smoother travel method with the right dose of adrenaline when it comes to terrains and tricks. Gone are the days when you need to look for alternative paths, say hi to everything that comes your way – bumps, tree roots, logs or broken/uneven sidewalks.
Easy-out Design
Bailing is important. Their easy-out, no-binding design allows your feet to slide out from underneath the Fins, meaning you can eject quickly and safely.
Versatile: Do Anything With FlightFins
The FlightFins product line offers a new level of versatility and control for nudges, slides, and bonks. You can take advantage of this versatility when carving or plate sliding, and through regular use, become a OneWheel FlightFin grand master.
FlightFins Lets You Ride Your Onewheel in More Ways You Can Imagine
Your imagination is the limit! Experience newer ways to ride your Onewheel with FlightFins. Elevate your ride to the next level through deeper carving, dominate trails, and conquer curbs like never before.
FlightFin’s FullFlight System provides the complete FlightFins experience in one kit. It lets you customize colorways, and it is available for Onewheel V1, Plus, XR and Pint.
More information about FlightFins
